Having flown into Houston from the UK in the afternoon, we arrived a little travel-weary at around 6pm. The greeting from the front desk in the lobby was cheery and warm. Check-in was easy, quick, and informative. We were in our room within minutes.
The lobby area was bright, cool and very clean, as was our very large room, which included a flat-screen TV, mini-fridge with a small icebox. In-room air-conditioning was efficient and not too noisy.
The bed was comfortable (not too firm, not too soft), the bathroom was of a reasonable size, clean, and adequately equipped.
Breakfast was of the expected quality for a hotel of this rating. All was tasty and fresh. Starbucks brand coffee, fruit juices, cereals, pastries, muffins, fresh fruit, toast, bagels and a waffle-maker. The hot selection consisted of biscuits (and gravy), sausage patties and pre-cooked omelettes. There was a good stock of these, and the staff ensured they were well stocked. A bagged, grab 'n' go breakfast was also available in the lobby for those in a hurry.
The hotel itself was easy to find, being located just off the Katy freeway, but set back sufficiently, and glazed well-enough to cut out traffic-noise. There is a large car-park, and there is a reasonable selection of places to eat nearby, including a few within easy walking distance.
The hotel has a fitness centre, pool, and offers free Wi-Fi.
I'd have no hesitation in stopping at this La Quinta again in the future.
