Description: Located in the heart of the hill country, Lum's serves up vintage Texas smoked BBQ along with sinister sides and carefully prepared deserts. Our approach to barbecue is simple: lots of time and lots of wood. Our meat is dry rubbed with a select few spices and then slow cooked over mesquite wood. Lum's was co-founded in 1976 by father and son, Louis and Richard Lumbley. We strive to provide a comfortable and friendly dining experience executed with exquisite small town hospitality.

“Great BBQ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Every time we travel thru Junction, Texas we always love eating the noon meal at Lum's BBQ. The staff has always been friendly and give that little extra portion that makes you feel full to the top. Wether it's the brisket plate or the brisket sandwiches they know BBQ. It is also reasonably priced and the choices vary in what you can get such as the brisket and sausage plate, sandwich, ribs or chips. The trimmings are included in the plate price but the desert pies are not. I had a chocolate pie last time and it was superb. I have never left hungry...

“Amazing BBQ for a small town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We stopped in Junction for the night and the hotel clerk recommended Lum's. It was late when we got there (8:30 p.m.) and all they had left for the meats were sausage and brisket, but they were certainly excellent, and the BBQ sauce is to die for. As mentioned by others, the place is laid back, the staff is very friendly, you are free to get all of the condiments (including that scrumptious sauce) that you want, and they trust you to pay when you leave. As also noted by others, the atmosphere is eclectic. After picking up your food (cafeteria style) you can then take a seat at one of the various picnic tables. The restaurant is also part grocery part souvenir store, so it is different - and very likeable. We will definitely plan to stop at Lum's every chance we get when we travel I-10.

“Local BBQ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

We were passing through Junction on the way to Marfa and it was time for lunch. Pulled off at a gas station and started conversation with a State Trooper. He recommended several places but I asked for a local place serving BBQ (Texas BBQ that is). He said well theres a place down the street called Lum's. Enough for us and when I saw the smoke pits outside with a sweaty cook we knew would be good. Beef brisket was the choice of course with sides finished off with a jar of pickled quail eggs, Recommend highly!

“Great Barbeque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

We did not know about Lum's before we got to Junction but apparently it is very well known in the world of great barbeque. The "restaurant" is in the general store of the gas station and the smoke pit is out front.
The barbeque and sides is served to eat in on paper plates or to take away. You just help your self to bottled beers from the fridge or soft drinks from the dispenser. There is a limited selection of pies and cheesecakes for dessert but they are worth leaving a bit of room for. They also operate a honesty policy - after you have eated just tell the cashier what you had.
We found it by accident but it is worth a detour if you are in the area.

“Best BBQ ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

Had a great sliced brisket sandwich there today. I am a native Texan, and have tasted lots of BBQ. The smoked brisket was tender, smokey, and the service was friendly.
