I love historic hotels and this one bills itself as the oldest hotel in East Texas. It is beautifully furnished and the staff are friendly. The place appears to be clean, but it has odor problems. They try to disguise the odors by using scented oils and that's worse for someone who is allergic to chemicals and perfumes. Although I think the place is beautiful I am not sure I would stay there again. Definitely would not stay again in the "Jay Gould Suite." I might be willing to try a different room. The bed was not very comfortable either. The town of Jefferson is a beautiful historic town well worth the visit. TV and internet worked fine.
