“Don't stay here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

One of the worst hostels I've ever stayed in. The whole place is in need of a thorough clean, particularly the bathroom. The plastic sheets on the bed are extremely noisy. The common area in the middle of the bedrooms was in costant noisy use, particularly by the employees. We didn't know who the owner was until we were ready to leave where he complained about us not paying until then- even though he hadn't been around to pay. There were dubious credit charges not stated & when we questioned them he was extremely rude, intimidating & racist. Others have said how friendly he is but we did not experience this, probably as a result of the screaming match he had with his employee in the middle of the hostel the evening before. Both he & his employee sleep in the dorm rooms which is an unusual arrangement. He did not seem to treat his employee well at all.

We were even requested to leave a good review.

Location wise it's close to the TRE to get to Fort Worth & Dallas although the service is infrequent & you have to get another bus to get to the Stockyards in FW.

The attention of Carlos and Ivan was very cordial.

I was only a couple of hours visiting Dallas. I couldn´t sleep in the hostel, but it seems a good place to hang out a few days.

One thing to keep in mind, in my case I visited Dallas and I had a connecting flight to another state in the morning. From Wild Wild West Dallas today there is no public transportation to the airport, a taxi minimally charges about $ 30 higher than the price I paid for this hostel.

Room Tip: Pay attention with the public transportation first - u$s 2,35 a daytrip - if you choose a cab will c...

This hostel is more like a house! Very comfortable. Easy to get around but train is expensive. Stayed for 3 nights, was lon enough. Staff were friendly, sometimes a bit too much.

This hostel is very welcoming and is a good value. When I arrived with a moving truck, I quickly saw that there was no room for me to park it, but they asked around and the neighbors across the street found a spot for me and made it work. The small yet homey hostel is very accommodating. Carlos even drove a visitor to the airport at 4am! Also, they let you use their laundry machines with no extra charge even though there is a laundromat right across the street. I feel like the people here do their best to help you get the most out of your stay and I would recommend stopping in.

Great wee stay at this hostel. It was like you lived there, it's a house converted into a hostel, the owner watched TV with you, you could cook your own meals there, keep your food in the fridge, everything necessary was there and all at a good price. I left my Scottish flag there accidentally, take good care of it :(

Room Tip: Great stay

dear guys and fellow travellers please think carefully about coming to this hostel everything we read about this place is true, this has to be the worst place i have ever been to, they dont have a cleaner and the place is dirty especialy the kitchen and fittings also the toilets smelt like they had never been cleaned on a regular basis the mattreses are covered in plastic there noisy and it makes you sweat alot, the hostel is miles and miles from anything good it is pointless coming here it is a complete NOTHING. then you have the old man carlos with his constant harrasment wanting you to take a lift from him so he can take money from you it does go on all the time its sad that he is so desperate, and the final straw for us was when he offered us a beer each to write a good review about this sad awfull place, we didnt except his bribe and why lie about it im writing the truth about our expierence motels are only a couple more dollars i wouldnt recommend this place to anyone its just a bad place full stop.

Lonely Planet was right about everything. Fantastic hosts, clean and well looked after hostel, cheap and easy. Little bit out of town but it is definitely manageable and good if you want to save the pennies. I highly recommend that you stay here!
