Came to Houston, on an emergency. family member admitted to hospital in ICU. Had to find a place to stay asap. Called around, and the best price near the hospitals, I found was Rodeway Inn & Suites Medical Center and even got a MEDICAL discount !. Thank God. ! Just had to mention and show teller, documentation of hospital etc. Very Easy, Emergency Entrance of family member. They have a shuttle, washer n dryer, continental breakfast, and newspaper, which saved me money everyday. Rodeway Inn, has new remodel bathrooms, and freshly painted outside. I needed a place to eat and sleep, and for my needs, this was the best price. I will be coming back.
Thanking Rodeway Inn.

Sadly it's one of the more economic choices to stay yet it's still overpriced there for the overall lack of quality, ceiling was damaged, kitchenette cookware materials were poor quality, furniture was just replaced with more low quality furniture, very dangerous that it seemed no elevator access was readily available to second floor units(baggage transport); security didn't seem nearby, staff doesn't seem genuinely friendly, complimentary shuttle access is limited; the bathroom was in good condition and the room has satisfactory wireless network, but this doesn't really justify the lodging rate. Would not return to stay there.

Stay away from this horror scene. I've stayed in many hotels in my 32 years and I'm not wealthy so I've stayed in some bad motels/hotels. This is the WORST motel I have ever stayed in. It's listed as a hotel but it's clearly not even at the level of a motel.

When you walk in, the pungent smell of mold hits you like a brick wall. I'm not talking about a bit of mold, I'm talking about the air was so thick of mold you can feel your lungs being invaded and in the morning you will have pneumonia. No amount of window opening or fan/air condition will get rid of the smell. I guarantee you will have a hard time falling asleep with the odor. Being from Canada, I thought maybe it's like this in most hotels since the Houston air can be very moist and humid, but boy the next night I stayed in a Marriott for just a little more and it was HEAVEN.

Apart from the mold, here's the rest of the horror scene at Rodeway Inn hell. Old rickety furniture from the 60's, lights that don't work, cigarette burn marks on the bedsheets, old smelly linen and bedcover, moist couch and bed, insects crawling on walls, 1 towel given, no shampoo provided, ugly room and everything in it.

I can go on, but please don't make the same mistake I did. I read bad reviews and decided to take a chance and that was a huge mistake. Stay away from here. Any place is better than this.

I found this hotel on the Choice Hotels web site. I arrived early and checked in and then left quickly for a dinner engagement. When I came back at 10 pm I noticed that there was a sour smell in the room and the floor was completely soaked in water in one corner. The carpeting was emitting the smell. I called the manager who took a very long time and more phone calls to respond. He acknowledged that there was standing water in the room, but claimed he had no other room except the one next door to give me, which was even more foul. He promised me a ten percent discount and a different room the next night.

The next day he again promised a better room and I left for a conference. When I came back at 6 pm they claimed the best room they could give me was one two doors from the first which had a smell of disnfectant that made me nauseous. I asked for a room upstairs to get away from the moisture problem but they claimed they had none. Finally after I just stood there and insisted for about 10 minutes, they found a room upstairs that wasn't suffering from moisture problems.

They did not give me a discount for the first night and they acted as though I was a problem for wanting a room that didn't have standing water or obvious mold problems. There were giant pools of water in the courtyard that smelled of chemicals and a dead squirrel just a few feet away. Against the back of the building was a large pool of water that looked to be about 6 inches deep. This place has real problems with drainage and mold. The mangement seems to be in total denial and is trying to rent the rooms anyway. On top of this they have a real attitude problem and if you complain they act like you are incidental to their concerns. This place is conveniently located but not worth the risk of getting one of their mold pits.

  • Liked — It's a convenient location for Rice Village and the University and Medical Centers in Houston
  • Disliked — Ithas severe drainage andmold problems. The downstairs rooms are in very bad shape and the mangement doesn't admit to this.

We stayed one night in June 2006. The bathtub was moldy, and the bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. There were stains on the chair, and visible blood stains on the sheets. I didn't even take a shower there; I waited until I got back home.
It might be a good place if you needed a very cheap place to stay while visiting someone in the Medical Center, it does have a kitchen and free shuttles to the Medical Center.
The problems we encountered were more of an indication that they may need to find new cleaning staff.
If you have to stay here, don't pay more than $45.
