I requested a Taxicab to take me to Bush airport; they instead loaded my luggage into a Town car and said it is a same price!!

Asked why they didn’t call a Cab? Their response was, don’t worry it is same price; this man will take you to the airport. Guess what. I was sold for $ 10.00 freaking dollars.

Cab fare from that hotel to Bush airport is $37.50 while the Limo/town car the Hotel forced me to take cost $ 55.00. can't you tell the difference? I'll never stay Crown Plaza again.

After reading the reviews, I felt like I did not stay at the same Crowne Plaza as the others. I was attending a conference and had the majority of my evenings free and was not familiar with my surroundings since this was my first trip to Houston. The hotel offers a excellent Mangers reception in the evenings for Priority Club Members and I got a chance to mingle with other hotel guests and the hotel management team who were very welcoming and informative. In regards to not having any restaurants or evening entertainment near the hotel, that statement is not truthful. I enjoy nightlife and good food and the hotel provides both, but it is nice to be able to go out and experience a new city. I asked the front desk and they informed that 2 blocks away in an area called Midtown has everything from fine dining to small pubs. It was a great experience.
The hotel is very clean and updated and I will return my next visit.

Just an OK hotel - location is in middle of town but....there's nothing to do! They charge for parking at USD19. Tiny bathrooms

I have stayed at this property four different times, with the most current stay in January 2005 for five nights. The hotel is in downtown Houston, but if you are looking for something that's within walking distance to the downtown theaters, bars/clubs, and restaurants, than don't stay here becuase this property is on the southwest edge of downtown. But it is directly connected to the Houston downtown tunnel system (a system of underground tunnels that connect various buildings in the downtown area) so if you are here for work and work in one of those buildings connected, then it's a good thing b/c you won't have to walk outside during the hot and humid summer months. (Tunnels are closed after business hours)

I am a Platinum Elite Priority Club and Ambassador Club member with the Crowne Palaze chain of hotels, but when I checked in each time (and I show my club card every time), the person at the front never offer any room upgrade for me. I wait... to see if they do. But they give me the key to my room wihtout a word. Every time, I had to ask for the upgrades myself and then, only then, do they would switch out the key/room to a bigger/nicer room.

The rooms are ok.... maybe a little below the other Crownes that I have stayed in (NYC, DC, Seattle, etc.). The Crowne totally gutted this building and move themselves in in 2001, but the room carpet and upholstries seem they are older than that. Standard rooms are small, but the upgraded rooms are bigger and nicer decor.

Food (room services and breakfasts) are ok, but nothing that would make me want to spend my own money on.

I agree with all the other reveiws posted so far.

All in all, this is good if you are attending a convention within the hotel or in Houston for work in one of the near-by buildings and the company is picking up the bill. This hotel is not worth the rack rate or any rate is it's on your own dime.
