I have just stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Downtown Houston during the 4th of July Holiday. It was kind of slow during that time- which made it nice. I have really enjoyed my stay there. I have stayed in the Junior Suite which was excellent ! The Junior Suite offers alot of room - 1 full bath and another separate bathroom with a " garden tub " - no toilet in the bathroom with a garden tub. It also had a nice chaise lounge in the living room which was great for watching TV.
The service at the restaurant was excellent, especially with a gentleman named " Gerald " who works there. He offered the very best service !!
He was very friendly and he went out of his way for us. Great food and
great service.
The maid service was wonderful, they are very friendly and they
do a fantastic job. (Please don't forget to tip them as well !! )
The front desk people were very accomodating, as well the guys who
valet park the cars. ( There is no self parking at this hotel. ) There is a hotel shuttle that offers " complimentary " service within a 3 mile radius.
This really came in handy, because driving in Houston is too scary.
I went to the Downtown Aquarium which was also enjoyable - definitely
a " must see " in the downtown area.
The hotel is about 3 blocks from the monorail station on Main St.
I took the monorail to the Museum District. This was convenient
for those who enjoy the arts. ( $2 will give you a 24 hour pass on the monorail system)
The pool area was kind of small, but nice. If you are looking for good convention space and meeting rooms, this is the hotel for you.
I hope this helps !
