“clean, good beds, convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

I was reluctant to stay at either Westin Galleria Hotel due to the reviews regarding smelly, moldy rooms and my allergies and asthma. I decided to overlook the reviews and stay for the convenience factor...grandchildren, iceskating, shopping, good food...location. We spent one night at the Westin Oaks and 3 nights at the Westin Galleria. Both rooms were immaculate, equipped with truly heavenly beds, great showers, big, fluffy towels and the nicest swimmimg pools that I have seen a long time. Everything was very clean and comfortable. I cannot say enoough about the gracious staff who cured every problem...Dallas and Prashay made the move from one hotel to the other seamless by checking us in at the Galleria when we checked out at the Oaks. I had a key to our new room and went shopping with my granddaughter while my husband movd the car and bags. We had lovely, large corner rooms which were close to a water main break and noise from the city of Houston repairs. Peggy gave us free internet to make up for the noise which the hotel had no control over. I plan to stay here again. My granddaughter loved it too.

Room Tip: Corner room at the Oaks is worth extra money for extra space, especially with children. Loved the v...

The conference I was attending was held at the Westin Galleria so for convenience that's where I stayed. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I got a $5 food voucher for declining maid service for the three days I was there. For one person that wasn't an issues but if you're messy you might not opt for that. The hotel itself was easy to get around in but the mall was another story. The mall is hugh and complicated. I got turned around several times and had a hard time finding where the restaurants were located. I couldn't find a mall guide anywhere. If you need something simple like a pack of gum or a simple chocolate forget it, I could not find anywhere to buy this. If you don't might a long walk there is a Walgreens about a mile away, otherwise I suggest you bring everything you will need.

Room Tip: If you want a view ask for a room higher then the 14th floor, they go to 24 floors and can face the...

Dear SandBetweenMyToes007, Thanks so much for the four star review of our hotel, the Westin Galleria, Houston! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us while attending a conference and also appreciate you taking advantage of our Make a Green Choice initiative. Our hotel is indeed connected to a very large mall, the fourth largest in the United States, and I do apologize for not providing you with a mall directory to help you locate certain stores and restaurants. I frequently check reviews before we stay anywhere and this was no different. We booked a room at this hotel despite some unfovarable reviews while we were in Houston for my husbands sisters wedding. This is a truly pleasant hotel from the time I entered which was very late There was no confusion with joycelyn checking us in despite being late, she was very understanding and showed no hesitation, she made it seem like it was her fault that we were late and was trying to fix a problem that we created I was blown away with her professionalism and empathy. We were starving and a very pleasant guy served us a very tasty pizza. Herbert also helped us figure out the television and filled our ice bucket because the ice machine on our floor was out of ice. Five stars for this gentleman, it is extremly hard to find cheerful people at 2am. Food was a little pricey but I guess you cant have it all. If u want shopping it can not be beat. Its in the middle of the largest mall in Houston ie: free parking. Everyone we met at this hotel was very cordial and anxious to help. Only one drawback Something was happening with the water while we were there. It kept going off. Hopefully this is not the norm. Will stay here again.

Room Tip: The view from the 24th floor was absolutely stunning. That is the ballroom floor so I would guess a...

This hotel was in a great location! It was really cool being able to say "lets walk down to the mall and shop around". I loved that they offered self serve Starbucks packages in the room, and the travel sized products were a nice touch. We had to call down to the front desk to make a complaint about a very loud yapping dog across the hall, and the front desk associate was very nice and handled the situation right away. We experienced great service and we would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.

I didn't have any preconceived notions about my stay at this hotel. I wasn't really a fan of the Galleria mall so no built up excitement.
Upon arrival I the lobby was bustling with lots of people no problem we were checked in very quickly and the people were super nice and talked to us while we waited. We were put on the 5th floor which is the pool floor. We were excited about that, I wanted to work on my tan and the kid wanted to play in the water. However, learning that there was some kind of superhero comicbook type convention going on that was using the pool area was not cool. Not to mention the fact they were partying outside our patio door every night of our stay was also not cool. They were not very loud, or we would have complained. It was just a big inconvenience. Not being able to let sun into the room without a hobbit, some power rangers or Harry Potter looking at us was annoying. We also never got to the pool.

It would have been great if we had been informed or at least put us on a different floor. We are not complainers but it was rather unsatisfactory.

Room Tip: Don't let them put you on the 5th floor. They rent it out for parties and you won't have any...

First of all, the location in the Galleria is excellent, so if location is your first consideration, this is the hotel for you! We attended a large gathering for educators and it was wonderful. Very convenient to spend the night without battling the crowd to leave. The bed was excellent with lovely linens and outstanding mattress. Bathroom was very nice, but nothing special. When I asked why our room was considered "Deluxe" the response was.."The bottle of water was free and it was on the 23rd floor...and the view!" Well, the view was of some parking garages and Highway 610, but it was the 23rd floor. All in all, it was nice, but pricey. Hint: If you pay cash, there is a substantial savings!

Room Tip: If location if ;your first consideration, this is a great choice...otherwise...you could do better e...

If you aren't desperate for Starwood points or dying to go the mall ( and you might be), pass on this hotel. It resembles a Holiday Inn more than a decent hotel. Plastic cups, soap in plastic wrappers like cookies, and extremely poor internet service make the whole experience subpar. All this hotel has going for it are the famous Westin mattresses and direct access to the mall. The dealbreaker was the wireless service in my room. I got better service in a Starbucks. That alone makes it unacceptable for business.
