We just got back from a trip to Surfside Beach, TX and stopped in Houston to do some fun things. I got a great summer deal on the Sheraton website. We traveled with a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 month old and the suite was perfect. We were able to put the baby down to sleep in the very comfy complementary portable crib in the living area and close the doors while the rest of us were in the bedroom area. The baby slept great and was not disturbed by us at all. Everyone at the hotel was extremely nice. The food was good, but next time I think we will do room service instead of the buffet because we can't eat that much and the 2 1/2 year old behaves better in the room! We will look for Sheratons the next time we travel.

I was not sure what to expect from a Sheraton Suites? I taught it was something less than W, Westin and other Starwood Hotels.

This hotel is a solid 4 star with 5 star service. My suite was perfect and the Omaha Steakhouse in the restaurant was great.

Located very close to Galleria and perfect central location to main business areas in Houston.

We visited Houston in September 2006 for quite extensive plastic surgery and were hoping to recover in Sheraton Suites before long flight back to London.

We were greeted with a massive disappointment of a smoking room. I had too argue with the front desk staff for well over an hour pleading that we can't possibly recover after surgery in smelly rooms. As the rooms are carpeted and have soft furnishings, if somebody smoked there before you, it will stink! After threatnening huge scandal with the manager, I finally got a non-smoking room, even though for an hour it was totally unavailable. If you hate smoking smell, my advice is get something in writing from the hotel to make sure you don't go through what we went through. We relied on Expedia to pass our requests, but the staff denied any record of that. That's why you need a piece of paper!

The rooms themselves are comfortable, but not luxurious. The food menu is limited and expensive. It came across as a place where one is sent by their company for some obscure conference and all the services are catered for the guests just to get drunk. Perhaps it works for many, as it appears to be fully booked all the time. Didn't work for us!

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times due to business and I've noticed the service and rooms going downhill. The service at the front desk is horrible. I recently had a noisy guest next door (a bunch of kids). No problem until they started to try to open the connecting door and bang on the door. I called the front desk a number of times and checked to see if anyone came up (no-one ever came).

I made note of this on checkout and the guy at the desk couldn't have cared a bit (at least make an effort). Perhaps a crash course in customer service would be useful (I noticed that most of the people at the front desk were from S. America - Customer Service is King in the US).

I've never used the pool as it always looks like a mirky green pond.

The location makes this a good Hotel but I'm going to the Derek across the street from now on.
