I chose this hotel because of the tripadvisor reviews. We were very happy with this clean and comfortable hotel. Checked in late and the desk clerk was able to recommend options for a late dinner (after 10:00pm). He even gave us written directions to a restaurant and to Rice Village. Rice Village is a nice area of shops and restaurants right next to Rice University (the area may also be called "west university"--my first visit to the area). The hotel is on Old Spanish Trail, close to where it crosses Kirby. Rice Village is just about 1.5 or 2 miles down Kirby. The trek is pretty congested (going through one or more medical complex areas)--better for a car ride than a walk.
The room was clean with what looked like brand new carpet. The roomy suite set-up with a desk, sitting area, 2 tv's a microwave, and fridge worked great for 2 adults and a teenager. Couch was sleeper sofa in our suite, although we did not use it. Borrowed a cable from the front desk and had high-speed Internet with no glitches. (got a toothbruth, too). Beds very comfortable--pillowtop mattress, if I remember right.
Breakfast and the cardio equipment were particularly impressive. Eggs, sausage, oatmeal (not in those little packages, but already made with nuts and brown sugar to put on it) ,toast,make-em yourself waffles,yogurt,juice,muffins,fruit--I probably forgot some things (very happy to have some healthy options.) If memory serves, 2 treadmills, one reclined bike, and an eliptical trainer (Prexor?, I think). I used the bike and eliptical machine. They both worked great. Bring a chest strap if you want to use the cardio function on the bike. Eliptical machine looked new. They have a "market" next to the front desk with refrigerated and frozen snacks and drinks, better than vending machine fare, that you can buy from the desk clerk 24 hours a day. Pool is outdoors--not really big enough for swimming laps, but I did it anyway. We stayed 2 days. A+
