I was lucky enough to work at this hotel when it was a Four Seasons, and unlucky enough to be there when Omni took over this property. Recently my company had a meeting in one of the second floor meeting rooms, so I thought I'd stay the night and see how the hotel was getting along. Sadly, I must report it's gone WAAAAY downhill; the room (1019, Junior Suite) was in desperate need of renovation, the staff was not 1/2 as good as it used to be, and room service was disgusting. La Reserve is GONE - used to be one of the best restaurants in the city!! The Black Swan, where we rubbed shoulders with visiting VIPs, CEOs and polticians (the 1992 Republican National Convention was a hoot) is just a crappy hotel bar now. I wish I hadn't gone back - this is no longer the preferred hotel of the stars (we had Madonna, Julia Roberts, most bands and stars USED to stay here), it's just a hotel barely holding on to the stars and diamonds that Four Seasons earned, and Omni was soooo pleased with themselves to have bought. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the new downtown boutique hotels, AVOID this hotel. If you never stayed there before, you won't know that the special ambiance is gone - but you will notice that there IS no special ambiance. Go to the Icon. Or the Magnolia. Or the Sam Houston. Or even the St. Regis. Just not here.
