Visited the Houston area for a long weekend which included visits to Space Center Houston and Kemah Boardwalk. We like a full-service hotel and the Clear Lake Hilton did not let us down.
Views from the HHonors floor overlooking the lake were great and our rate included continental breakfast vouchers with a $5 upgrade to the full buffet-$10 for breakfast for two is still a deal. Rooms were recently renovated and quite up to Hilton/4 star standards. Even with at least two weddings in the hotel the staff didn't seem over-taxed and was quite friendly. I will definitely use this hotel again.

Hotel needs some major renovations. Air conditioning was noisy. Room I was assigned initially was smelling of smoke, though designated as non-smoking. Noisy too as the noise from other rooms could be heard clearly through the interconnecting doors. I was shocked to find that my 10 minute call to Canada cost me 50 dollars. Would not recommend this Hotel unless you are desperate.

We spent 2 nights in Houston and decided to get a hotel by Clearlake. Hotel was good, great beddings and pillows. However, when you check out, make sure you don't leave anything in your room. My daughter left a CD (autographed) in our room and I have contacted the hotel 4 times but I still have to hear from them. For a hotel like Hilton, I was expecting they would at least return my call to let me know whether they have the CD or not. I've been waiting for a week now.

We had a terrible experience at the Hilton.

When we checked in, we were told that there were no lake views available. The room the desk attendant gave us was across from the noisy ice machine so I went back down to ask for a quieter room...so she gives me the room that backs up to the elevators. Ding! Hello... I went back down and asked a different attendant for a quieter room and she gives me a lake view room. What the?! I thought there were none available.


We had a party of 20 and decided that the weather would force us to eat at the hotel. All I can say is FIASCO. No food or drinks for an hour. The restaurant was not busy. The bar ran out of ice. The waitress and restaurant manager decided that we did not need salads and randomly served our cold overcooked entrees an hour and a half after we ordered. They were so bad on service that they didn't even notice that 3 in our party left without food. The manager was not apologetic and flat out argued with some of our party. Some of us paid for dinners, some ended up just walking out.

The hotel is old but updated. The rooms are good sized but you can hear people beside and above you. The bathrooms are very small. The shower curtain in our room had a really bad odor like the liner needed to be replaced. We had to call down for towels each day and the pool towels were non existant by the evening.
