The Omni Westside offers value for money and efficiency for the business traveller to the Energy Corridor in Houston. It has a relaxing yet upscale atmosphere to it. Rooms are large, somewhat dated but very comfortable with excellent beds. There is a coffee maker in the room with good quality coffee ("Wolfgang Puck"), ironing board and safe. The only slight minuses I could report is that the airconditing can be somewhat loud (but also pretty powerful) and the rooms tend to smell a bit strongly of cleaning agents.
If you join the Select Guest program, check-in and check-out are both extremely efficient. Upon arrival you can pick your room key yourself from a display on the check-in counter, and upon check-out you get the bill below the roomdoor and can leave the keys in a dropbox. This is highly appreciated by the always hurried business traveller. Also the Select Guest program offers access to free Wifi, which is of reasonable quality. Perhaps the best feature of the Select Guest program is the very cost effective small breakfast you can get in your room for only $2,50 - essentially a bagel, orange juice and coffee. Early morning delivery of this is extremely reliable and it also comes with a free news paper (I take the The Wall Street Journal).
A good service of the hotel is the shuttle bus, it will take you to restaurants in the neighbourhood and also collect you again.
Room service and eating in the restaurant is above average hotel food quality, a little expensive but good choice and fine quality.
In the depth of the crisis around 2009/2010, frequent sleepers were welcomed back with fruit baskets and even cheese platters and bottles of wine waiting for you in the room. Now it is back to a complimentary bottle of water and a bowl of nuts and a handwritten note, still appreciated.
Parking is free and ample - it is best to straight head for the backside of the hotel were there is covered parking straight at the back entrance. The quickest way to enter the parking lot is to stay on the feeder road next to the I10 in western direction, drive past Eldrigde parkway and slightly beyond the hotel and take a right exit from the feeder onto the parking lot.
The pool is a bit simple and a bit exposed to views from the parking lot - there is also a small heated (very heated!) spa. It is however very pleasant to bask a bit in the sun there after a days work with a beer and some simple food ... the only downside being that there is no hotel telephone at the pool except a red emergency telephone so I usually call the hotel exchange on my mobile, which is always a bit of a suprise for them. But it works.
