I just stayed two days at this hotel over the Thanksgiving weekend. I received a great rate of $71.00 per night on the hotel's website. I've noticed that this hotel frequently has great rates on the weekend.

For a reduced rate, this hotel was excellent. It's an older property - - built in the early - mid 1970's at least - - it not a little older. I would not pay the rack rate for this hotel and there usually is no need to do so if you do your homework.

Service: excellent. Every staff member was polite, professional, and helpful.

Decor: Dated and in need of an update - - but in good repair. Nothing was worn out, broken, or dirty.

Room size: adequate room - - about average for a corporate hotel these days. It was not huge, but not cramped either. The room had all of the usual ammenities but did not have a mini bar or laptop safe. It was equipped with high speed internet for a fee of $9.95 per day.

Views: This hotel is surrounded by other buildings so you won't get much of a view in most rooms. My room overlooked the wall of the parking garage next door. Limited direct light into the room.

Cleanliness: Very clean - - everywhere I went, the hotel was clean and in good repair. My room and bath were very clean.

Bed: excellent. this hotel has the new Marriott bed and it's very comfortable.

Restaurants: I did not use the hotel's restaurants as there were lots of options in the immediate area.

Concierge Lounge: Fairly typical of Marriott Concierge Lounges. It was clean, comfortable and offered a very nice breakfast buffet.

Parking: $10.00 per day for self parking in a connected garage.

Location: Very good but not excellent. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to the Galleria Mall and about 15 minutes to the stores and restaurants on Post Oak. It's about a 7 to 10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants at Uptown Park. All-in-all, this is a good location that allows you to walk to lots of shopping and restaurants - - although you'll be the only one on the sidewalk. People just don't walk anywhere in Houston.

You can stay at the Westin Hotels at the Galleria or the JW Marriott at the Galleria - - or at the Hilton on Post Oak which puts you right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants there, but you'll pay a lot more. The 15 - 25 minute walk was not a problem for me as the weather was excellent. Also, the hotel has a complimentary shuttle that runs at scheduled times that can take you to the Galleria and back.

In summary, if you're willing to give up newer, more upscale furnishings and be a few minutes' walk away from shopping, this is an excellent choice. It's clean and comfortable with excellent service. I will definitely stay at this hotel if the occasion arises - - as long as I can get a discounted rate.

The lobby are nice, check-in went smoothly. We upgraded to a executive suite so it's nice size room, but the regular room on the same floor look cramped (my brother-in-law stay there also). The coffee maker with coffee and tea and a very large work desk was a very nice touch. The carpet looks very warm and soiled in different placed. The traffic notice is not bad, but the heater/AC made horrible noise when it's turn on, I'm surprised that my kids did not waken up by that.
Room Service for dinner was fine, but next morning for breakfast, they did not bring half the order first time, come back again, still missing the milk for kids and the butter for bread. They apologized and took care the tab for that.
Staff are all very nice and helpful, in-door swimming pool and hot tub are great, since we have the whole place to ourselves both night when we went down there.
Overall it's a nice hotel, but I won't pay full price for that.

I've been at this hotel for 4 weeks now as I was working locally. Staff are friendly and polite. Food is excellent with a good bar menu. Rooms are spacious with fresh linen and good bathroom. Would stay at this hotel if I was paying for the room instead of my company.

I was very disappointed in my stay at this hotel. For the price I was paying (over $100), I expected good quality. The first room we were assigned was horrible--old stained carpet, tiny room, cheap furniture. It looked like any room I could have gotten through any of the lower brand hotel chains. When we complained, we were given a different room that was slightly better. The carpet was still stained and nasty, but the room was bigger. The bed was very comfortable, but the room had a very odd layout, and the view was of a parking garage and high rise next door. I found the staff to be somewhat distant, but not rude. Overall it was just not what I expected. I will not stay there again, nor will I recommend it to anyone.

I stayed with my wife for 3 days from 21st to 24th December. I got a great deal from priceline for $50/night. For this price I wasn’t expecting a whole lot. Since I have never stayed in any 3 star hotels before so I wasn’t sure how big the room supposed to be. On my arrival I was a little disappointed that the room and bathroom was much smaller than I expected. Especially the bathroom and bathtub was really really small. But that didn’t bother me too much for too long. Overall I had a great stay there. We tried their breakfast twice. It was pricey but really good. I didn’t get a chance to try Hotel Alexander so I can’t say anything about the food there. The lobby was really nice and the staff was really friendly. Best part of the stay was that the internet was free for that month. Otherwise they would’ve charged $10/day for internet. Parking is free too. One reviewer wrote access to the parking garage is horrible. But I don’t think that it was too bad. I found parking convenient and lots of empty spots. The hotel seemed very empty. I guess people don’t visit Houston in time of the year.
