My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Downtown on August 5th, our wedding. My mother and I checked in promptly at 2pm, did valet parking ($21+tip) with in-out privildges. If asked, they will park your car under their canopy, where loading and unloading of guests is, which is wonderful, at least for us, we didn't have to wait to have our car brought round. Before we checked in, I went straight to the conceirge desk and asked them for a ride to the beauty shop and they obliged. Jim was super nice as they even found the phone number and address (I left it at home). He picked us up within minutes of our call for the return to the hotel. When Mom and I checked in, they took our luggage and the gentleman at the desk upgraded me, simply because it was our wedding night, which was nice. It was a large King room. The decor was beautiful, it was very clean and nicely appointed. The bathroom was big and had wonderful ammenties Portico (I believe) was the name of the toiletries and smelled delicious! Can't go wrong with lavender. The towels were soft, the tub was large and had enough room for two comfortably ;-). The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, the high speed internet worked perfectly, a starbucks in the lobby. The lobby is enormous, the hotel itself is 30 stories high with the Spindletop restaurant on top (gotten to by separate elevators), so when you stand in the lobby and look up itt goes on forever! We were on the 30th floor looking out over downtown and could see Reliant Stadium from our room. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
The cons:
1.The ice maker didn't work and there was only 1 per floor that I saw.
2. We cranked the A/C down to 60 and it still never cooled properly. I'm very hot natured so that wasn't a good thing for me at all. Don't get me wrong it was ok, just not cold like at home.
I think hotels should install ceiling fans in all their rooms, don't you?
