“Exactly as advertised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2014

This hotel is well maintained and the rooms are adequately appointed. The staff is friendly and the rooms are well cleaned and stocked. The location is central and there are convenient restaurants in and around the hotel. The best thing about the Hyatt is that it is exactly the way they present it in the pictures. We truly enjoyed our stay here.

We travelled from Austin and stayed here last weekend for the Houston Restaurant's Week. The location is great and we can actually walk to the restaurant in downtown. Irene, one of the upper managers, made sure my two toddler girls enjoyed their stay and we were taken good care of. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and the private lounge, and my two young girls loved riding on the glass elevators to our room on the 29th floor, which has a beautiful night view. Would love to stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! We are so glad you were able to stay with us during Houston Restaurant Weeks, it really creates a great vibe in the city and promotes such a wonderful cause. We were thrilled to hear that your little girls enjoyed our elevators and the view from your room, I will make sure to pass along your kind words to Irene. She will be overjoyed! We would love to have you stay with us again too, come back any time!

Great location, well organized, modern, clean and comfortable, great business location, good food, average pool, great staff. Wife here on business and I joined her for some R & R. Smoking allowed by the pool which was small but clean.

Room Tip: Had a room on the top floor

As a previous review said, first impression definitely had the WOW factor, beautiful lobby with the elevators that are running visible up and down . Fast and friendly checkin, I had a smoking room on the 7th floor (no haters please ) I should have known better... Despite the air purifier in the room it smelled like an ashtray ... Ugh ... Had drinks and a light dinner in the lobby bar, nice wait staff average at best food . Went back to room , comfy bed , bathroom was less than impressive worn and a ceiling panel had missing screws which was a bit disconcerting while showering ... Had nice toiletries (note a bottle of water was 3.50) . Breakfast at Schulers, buffet, it was good and again extremely friendly staff . I'd stay here again but in a no smoking room .

Traveled to Houston to visit the Johnson Space Center and Minute Maid Park and decided on this hotel as the price we paid was unbeatable. First off the hotel was awesome from an architectural standpoint similar to the Luxor in Las Vegas. All the doors to the rooms faced the open atrium with was 30 floors high. The elevators were glass and either faced the interior of the atrium or outside on the street. The service from the hotel staff was awesome. We valet parked the rent a car for 4 nites which was very convenient. The bell and valet staff were great. We ate in Shulas for the breakfast buffet which was OK and for a late nite snack (soup and a salad) which was very good and lived up to the Shulas standard. Roberto from the Lobby Bar was a great bartender as we visited him each night of our stay. We swam in the pool which was nice, however it was missing a bar or snack bar as this would have made it better to be able to drink while swimming in the Texas heat. The rooms were very nice, however they were only appointed with double beds which were not the most comfortable. It would have been nice to have 2 queens as it would have made it a little more spacious to sleep. Unfortunately it is like a ghost town around the hotel at night but at least there was some life at the lobby bar. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again on a return trip to houston.

Room Tip: Pick a high floor since the view is a lot cooler when looking over the hallway ledge.

First impression the hotel is magnificent. Shulas steak house so it must be top drawer. We were there to see a baseball game at Minutemaid field. The hotel offered a free shuttle to the game. The room was nice but wifi had to be purchased. Really? Room was nice. Went o the pool which is on the 6th floor, it is outside and really the worst experience of the whole trip. People smoking in and around the pool and using beer bottles as ash trays while wading in the pool.
Woke up in the morning and the room next to us had room service in the hallway from previous night. Rice was all over the carpet. Went to the game and when we got back at 4:30, the plate and the rice were still on the floor.
Took a shower in the morning and not hot water at all. Evidently a water line broke somewhere on the property. I heard someone say the hotel gave them free breakfast for the inconvenience. A little disappointing for a Hyatt

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to provide us with feedback on your stay. Please accept my apologies that your experience fell short of your expectations. I do appreciate you sharing your observations as we are always looking for ways to improve. While we do allow smoking on our pool deck, we do not allow glass bottles and will certainly look into extra measures we need to take to ensure glass does not make it outside. One we thing we were glad to read is that you had a nice room and were able to take advantage of our free shuttle to Minute Maid Park, thank you for your comments. We hope to welcome you back in the future for an opportunity to restore your confidence in Hyatt Regency Houston.

I stayed at the Hyatt for six nights for work and enjoyed the stay. The room service and housekeeping staff were responsive, prompt, and excellent. I upgraded to the Pure hypoallergenic room and the air quality and cleanliness were noticeably better. There was less dust on surfaces and the room smelled fresher. This is kind of odd to me - why pay more for a cleaner/fresher room?

The hotel has a huge open atrium so at night the noise from the lobby traveled all the way up to my floor.

Meals at Shula's were delicious but the service in the lounge portion of the restaurant was worse than the restaurant section.
