“Great overnight stay!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We live in Houston and wanted to do a stay-cation for one night. We live next to a bar and don't get good sleep on weekends because of the bass/noise.

Check-in: Super Friendly. The clerk asked us what brought us to the hotel and I explained wanting to get a good night sleep because of the bar we live by. We put us in the 2nd to top floor so we can get some peace and quiet. This was greatly appreciated, especially since there was a gosper choir convention staying at the hotel.

Room: Good size, A/C worked good enough. The bed was comfortable enough. I would rate it a high 6-7. The sheets aren't too soft but the pillows were just right for me. Better sheets and this hotel would have been a 10 in my book for the value.

Bathroom: This was a pleasant surprise. It was real nice and the shower had good pressure and was real hot!

My favorite was the breakfast buffet at Shula's on the first floor. It was 32 dollars for 2 people, very reasonable for a hotel, and the quality was some of the best hotel food I have ever had.

I loved the vibe of the hotel. There's a Einstein Brothers too that makes it very convenient.

Room Tip: If you stay on the top floor during a busy day, you might have to wait a while for the elevator.

Hotel was nice. We arrived late (appx 9:40pm). Receptionist on duty Jessica was VERY pleasant and top notch. Room was great, beds comfortable. View was great. Late checkout at no charge thumbs up especially since we arrived so late. Ate breakfast buffet at Shula's which was a bit pricey but good. There was a free shuttle to and from the game which was fast and a huge perk. And then we checked out....now the few bad comments. While checking out we double checked to make sure that car was ok to leave while we went to the game. Like I said before, we arrived late and the sign outside the hotel states Valet/Overnight $30 and sing right next to it stated Daily rates16-24 hrs was $30. We assumed (which we know we all shouldn't) that we could leave our vehicle parked there until at least 9:39pm (24hrs) while we went to the game. Good thing we checked because they were planning on charging us another $30 at 4pm if we hadn't returned. Their explanation by the Valet manager is that we Valet/Overnight parked which is 4pm to 4pm we didn't "Daily Park" which is up to 24hrs?? Really? How confusing is that? The Valet manager (Travis?) 'made it right' even though we returned well before the 4pm time but the girl at the counter was rude and kept asking what time do I expect us to return to get the car. I explained that I didn't know that I had never been to a ballgame and didn't know how long they lasted. She was VERY RUDE and I wished I had her name so Hyatt could counsel her. It's employees like her that kept you from receiving a 5 from us.

This is the 2nd time around staying at the Hyatt downtown Houston. This lovely hotel is our go to for Rangers Games. The staff is amazing, very friendly, made you feel like being at home. Room was very spacious, beds comfy, and very clean.
The hotel offers shuttle service to and from the games which is awesome. Management needs to give their staff a pat on the back..customer service was great...and that makes a big difference. We will be back!

Room Tip: Higher floors have amazing city views.

Thank you for the fabulous feedback regarding our staff. We are very proud of each one of them and I will be sure to pass along the "pat" on the back, especially to our team of shuttle drivers. Thank you for making us your hotel of choice and we look forward to hosting you again the next time the Rangers come to town.

The room was smallish but beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The elevators are pretty spectacular--a nice feature. Great service from the hotel and a lovely buffet breakfast in the restaurant. There was a bit of confusion at check in but they upgraded one of our party to a nicer room as compensation and all was well.

We just spent a week at the hotel for a major conference. The hotel had a huge lobby that went up all 30 floors. The elevators going up inside the hotel gave a spectacular view of the hotel. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was huge and the shower was hot and everything was very nice.

My biggest issue with the hotel was the open air lobby - there was a lot of noise coming from the bar in the lobby and although it did quiet down - it was not until after 11 pm. The onsite restaurant was tasty although it was a bit on the expensive side. There was also a nice bagel place in the hotel that was a nice quick spot for a bite at breakfast.

Overall - the service is what I expect from a nice business hotel and there was always someone available to ask questions or help out. I arrived on a weekend and it was way to hot to do much outside - so I was stuck in the hotel - there was not a lot to do around the hotel on the weekend or after hours. On Monday - the underground tunnels opened up for the working crowd and that was incredible. There was shopping and restaurants all over and I visited many stores and sites and really enjoyed it, but everything closed by 2:30 to 3pm.

Hotel is really nice looking from the lobby to the guest rooms. Even enjoyed the elevator rides since they were glass with either a view of the inside lobby all the way up or view of the outside while riding up and down. They also have plenty of elevators so never really had much of a wait even though hotel has plenty floors. Room was spacious and had all of the nice amenities but the bed was just average, the only thing missing to give this hotel a rating of 5. Staff and service was also great. Valets hustled every time we requested our vehicle, it was always waiting for us when we came down from the room.

This is the 3rd time I have visited the Hyatt Regency Houston and I would not stay anywhere else in the area. The rooms are large and comfortable, but the best thing about the place is the staff, who are extremely kind and will do whatever they can to make your stay perfect. Tom Jamison should get a special mention as his brilliant service is the main reason I keep choosing the Hyatt over any other hotel in the area.
