Nice Hotel. I paid 150.00 Just a decent Hyatt. The rooms could use some remodling. The TV's are a joke. The are like 17" old junkers. I was kind of embarrassed for them. But overall a decent place, but Hyatt can do better.

I was in Hyatt this past week for a convention. Everyone from bell captin to front desk ppl at Hyatt are extra friendly. The hotel is going through remodeling right now. The room I have on the 7th floor is outdated with old/dirty rug and noisy air condition.
I had breakfast buffet at the resturant inside the hotel and it was very yummy. They make fresh omlett to order and the fruits are really fresh. But the flounder I had for lunch was a bit too salty and was a bit of disappointment.
I was charged $25 plus tax for valet parking with in and out privilage. You can also self-park across the street for $15, but you cannot take your car out. Hilton only charges $15 for both valet and self-park which both have in and out privilage.
During my stay, the elevator was broken one night and ppl got stuck in it. I think once it is finish with the upgrade, it will be a very nice hotel.
Visiting Houston for a large convention, I selected this hotel because of the standards I have found the Hyatt properties have across the country. Boy, is THIS hotel an exception! The lobby is small and always full of people carousing late and again very early, the hotel is much noisier that other Hyatt's I have enjoyed. Worse, the ongoing renovations are unsightly, noisy, and the room I had was supposedly renovated- but was TERRIBLE! The room was weird cut-down shape that barely fit the bed and furniture, smelled moldy, and while 90% of the bathroom had been renovated, the tub/shower had not been- old, moldy tile with a RUSTED, discolored drop ceiling and curtains to block the light so that your shower was in total darkness! There was a drain hose end coming thru the ceiling from a leak above. What a loser hotel. Not worth the rate, nor deserving of the Hyatt branding.
Staff was OK, restaurant, bar, breakfast stuff fine- no exceptional service as you'd expect with personal attention. The front desk staff is the best of any of the employees, but still not up to Hyatt standards.
Most downtown hotels have a shuttle that is free (tipping is expected) and that's a great service, except that all my business meetings started at 9am or earlier, and the shuttle did not start before 9am. Still, this is a very useful service in Houston, but every hotel has it.
I had business meetings in several other hotels nearby- the Hilton down the road was much nicer, the Four Seasons was, like the Hyatt, horrid! So glad I'm not going back to Houston anytime soon. If I were, I'd stay at the Hilton, period!
I was at the Hyatt Regency for business, the hotel lobby was always bustling with people and very lively. The staff were very helpful and personable. The only downside was that the hotel is undergoing room renovations and I was in one of the old rooms so there was wallpaper peeling off the wall in the bathroom and old furniture. The room, though, was a nice size and the bathroom is spacious. I would recommend this hotel for a quick trip and for a rate in the low 100's tops. I paid for wireless but my signal was dropped a lot so I was not charged. I used the fitness center and, although small, was full of great exercise machines and free weights. Each machine has its' own tv for you.
Stayed for one night on March 11, 2008 at the downtown Hyatt Regency. Check-in was brisk and uneventful. The room was large and old. The rug was rundown, the TV was too small for the room, and the furnishings look as if they had seen better days. The bed was comfy, although the sheets were a little over laundered and starchy. The bathroom wisely used black marble, which never looks dirty or rundown. Then you get in the shower. They had a fabric valance over the shower rod, which basically cut off all light into the shower. Why do hotels do this? I felt like I was showing in a closet with no light. Then the showerhead . . . wow, terrible awful water flow. I attempted to adjust it, but to no avail. I had to maneuver under the water dripping out of the showerhead and it took 3 minutes to get the shampoo out of my hair. I am male, and do not have a mullet. So that’s about 2 minutes and 30 seconds too long. It was difficult to get soap off me, since the water flow was so bad. The towels, like the sheets, over laundered and starchy. Thought I was getting chemical burns as I dried off.
Check-out was uneventful and quick. In sum, this hotel had nice rooms, but as other have mentioned, it really could use some updating. Start in the bathrooms, get some better showers and lights. It was a typical hotel room, with its elderly fixtures in need of repair. I will likely attempt to stay elsewhere on my next sojourn through Houston.
