I spent two nights at the Marriott Houston Airport while attending a conference at the same hotel. Getting a reduced rate for the conference really helped the overall experience as well.
The front desk personnel were pretty efficient and I did not experience much trouble in my interaction with them. As mentioned in an earlier post, the room is fine (I had a king size bed room) but nothing out of the ordinary. Why is it that all hotel cable is the cheapest and the least informative? Can't they afford a deal where you get the information and program guide? The bed was nice and the linens were soft but the bed itself is a bit tough if you have a bad back.
The restaurants are nothing to speak of. To be fair, I did not try any of them but after reading the bland and predictable menu and the prices, there was no reason for me to eat there.
The concierge was an interesting experience. She did not seem particularly interested in helping me and at one point, I got the impression that she was annoyed at my continually trying to cull some info about local point of interest and local, non-chain eateries.
Its location is the primary reason why this place is a great find. Flying in and out of the city makes this hotel ideal. There are parts of it that are pretty dated and it is obvious.
Looking back over my review, it seems pretty negative but I liked it. Again, I was getting a deal because of a conference discount but I don't think I would find it worth paying for it at full price with the exception of its proximity to the airport. Still, the overall experience was great.
