I spent two nights at the Marriott Houston Airport while attending a conference at the same hotel. Getting a reduced rate for the conference really helped the overall experience as well.

The front desk personnel were pretty efficient and I did not experience much trouble in my interaction with them. As mentioned in an earlier post, the room is fine (I had a king size bed room) but nothing out of the ordinary. Why is it that all hotel cable is the cheapest and the least informative? Can't they afford a deal where you get the information and program guide? The bed was nice and the linens were soft but the bed itself is a bit tough if you have a bad back.

The restaurants are nothing to speak of. To be fair, I did not try any of them but after reading the bland and predictable menu and the prices, there was no reason for me to eat there.

The concierge was an interesting experience. She did not seem particularly interested in helping me and at one point, I got the impression that she was annoyed at my continually trying to cull some info about local point of interest and local, non-chain eateries.

Its location is the primary reason why this place is a great find. Flying in and out of the city makes this hotel ideal. There are parts of it that are pretty dated and it is obvious.

Looking back over my review, it seems pretty negative but I liked it. Again, I was getting a deal because of a conference discount but I don't think I would find it worth paying for it at full price with the exception of its proximity to the airport. Still, the overall experience was great.

The Marriott is actually in the airport with easy access using the mini-subway. For an overnight stay between flights it is ideal if overpriced. It's also looking a little tired and in need of redecoration.

I'd be tempted, though, to give it an extra star because the food in the restaurants is superb, the breakfast selection exceptionally good.

Coming to this hotel on a Saturday and expecting to use their advertised Concierge Services only to find the Concierge room is not open on Saturday and not until 5 PM on Sunday was disappointing. The room charge on the "Concierge " floor was $300 vs. $169 for the typical rooms.

When we checked in we were told that the internet access fees had been waived and that we were given a free breakfast in their basement restaurant . However we found it was closed until late Sunday afternoon. We called the desk; the room rate was adjusted to $169 but later we were charged for breakfast. Basically, the breakfast at $34 brought the charge back up to $300. Not great information from the Front Desk.

We went into the Concierge room on Monday morning where we were hardly acknowledged by a woman staring at a computer. Breakfast had ended and the place seemed pretty sterile. No reason to pay the upgrade unless you need the internet services and want to read the magazines.

The hotel had some water damage as a result of Ike. The carpets in the 2nd and 3rd floors are in need of repair. The rooms are fine but they still feel very much like your standard small hotels rooms of the 60s and 70s. Linens are nice, bathrooms small, only 1 bathrobe in a king room and no real significant upgrade for the 'Concierge' price. But it is directly linked to the airport and if easy access is your priority, it is fine.

  • Liked — airport access, no noise from airport traffic,
  • Disliked — sterile, predictible rooms, lack of front desk personality and clarity

After an excellent trip in Costa Rica I had to overnight in Houston in order to catch my flight back to Europe the very next day. I made a last minute reservation with them since they were offering a great deal but had doubt since the reviews weren't that great.

Decided to stay here anyway since the price was unbeatable for a Marriott hotel and the location would be very convenient.

Which is true. You don't have to exit the airport in order to get to the Hotel.

The underground Terminal link connects the Hotel with the rest of the Terminals at Houston. Never watied more than 5 min to hop on and was there in no time.

Which meant that I didn't leave the room until was almost time to drop off my luggage at the terminal!

I asked for a room in the South Tower on a high floor and got exactly what I wanted.

All the staff I've spoke with were attentive, friendly and helpful.

My room was nice, big and clean. Bathroom is a little on the small side, but how much room do you need? For a solo traveler it was perfect.

I did find a pitty that they charge you to use the Internet but since I didn't need I wasn't bothered.

However I do understand why other who pay normal rates expect for this service to be free.

The hotel has a nice fitness area not big nor small ok size. Didn't check out the pool so can not comment on that. Because I was tired and lazy did not dine at the Restaurant but had Room service instead. (a Marriott Burger) And it was delicious and enough to fill me up for the night.

The service was fast and got exaclty what I've ordered. Yes it's a little pricey but you can expect that from a 4star hotel. The Hotel is big and so expect a little walking from the lobbey to your mine. In my case I had to even go down a mini escalator in order to get to the lift to my room. I had great overnight stay and will choose this hotel pure on it's very convenient location!

Thank you Marriott Houston Staff/Hotel for a great way to end my summer vacation!

This hotel needs a lot of work. Part of the bathroom fixtures were falling down and there was no hot water in the morning. The room was terribly dated-something out of the 70s.The only redeeming feature is that it is in the airport and thus convenient for an early flight
