I just returned from a business conference at the Marriott Houston Airport. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. As has been mentioned, it was very easy to go downstairs from the terminal to the level of the trams and ride one a few stops to the hotel. I literally walked right onto a tram... no waiting. Each car holds about six people each and I had one to myself.

From the tram stop you go up two escalators (or you could ride elevators) to the lobby level, where there is a huge sign indicating Registration... easy to find.

I was VERY impressed with the service I received at this hotel. EVERY employee was friendly and helpful, even when just passing in the hall. Good job!

The hotel is nice enough. It's clean and comfortable. I stayed in the South Tower where my convention was, and it was always easy to catch an elevator without waiting. The North Tower did have some elevator troubles one day but I think it was fixed before I left.

The rooms are amazingly protected from outside noise, given the fact a busy airport is right outside your window. However, I was awakened one night due to the snoring (!) of my next door neighbor. I wish the sound insulation between rooms was a little better, but I got back to sleep and had a quieter neighbor the next night.

My bill had some errors and one big mistake on it, but the folks at the front desk corrected them with kind service.

If traveling through this airport, and needing a place close and convenient to stay overnight, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

I will never stay at this hotel again. I booked here because I was on a business trip and it was company preferred... I don't know why. It was way over priced for what you get. You need to pay daily for internet in your room, or be charged $.50/ minute if you use the business center. I expected better for the amount of money I paid, but now it is obvious I was only paying for proximity to the airport. The hotel felt run down. The staff was disengaged, and I felt like I was bothering them everytime I asked about something. The iron in my room left rust stains on an expensive sweater.. they cleaned it and gave me a new iron... that was about the most I can say for them. The parking was not convenient, and if your not flying in it was nearly impossible to figure out where to go to check in, and where to park your car. The entire hotel is surrounded Valet Parking only. To top it all off, I decided to enroll in the rewards program the day that I checked out to at least feel like I'm getting something out of the horrible 5 day stay... they refused to give me credit for my stay becuase I was checking out that day.. It doesn't matter, because that ensured that I will never stay at another marriott. Very unimpressed... personnel seemed very detached and unable to see guests as people and not cash cows.

I just landed at IAH a few hours ago. I checked into this Marriott for a two-night stay. The lobby is fully renovated, with a few shops and a unique look. You don't have to be a NASA rocket scientist (sorry for the pun) to find the check in desk. My guest room windows (overlooking the pool) are clean, and there are no cockroaches crawling around the bathtub or ants wandering around.

I'm not sure who wrote the other reviews, but I didn't find any of the issues/problems they did. Everyone who has flown through this airport has a story to tell, maybe the other reviewers were venting a bit of their Continental frustrations on Marriott.

Just an FYI: IAH is a million miles from everything so if you don't have something to do here at the hotel, such as a meeting, a car is going to be necessary. The hotel does have free parking, which is nice. Not sure how they keep locals out when they fly out of town, but that's not our problem.

I'm ready for a good night's sleep in a comfy king size bed and enjoying this unique hotel.

  • Liked — No shuttle ride to the airport needed, lower level train runs right to terminals

Had to stay in Houston overnight after a flight was cancelled. There are dozens of off property hotels near the airport, but since I had an early flight out, I chose the Airport Marriott. It was about 50%-75% more than the off-airport hotels, but I thought that it would be worth it for the convenience - NOT. To get to the hotel you have to go down an escalator from the baggage claim, get on a train for a quick ride (once the train gets there) to the hotel. Then it's up a floor to the lobby. I was placed in the old South Tower which is down a long hallway, down an escalator, then up an elevator to your room. I started to put my shirts in the closet and promptly smashed my toe on a door stop that was imbedded into the carpet. After the pain subsided, it was time to write a review.
The front desk area loooks like an afterthought - like they built the hotel and then said "shoot - we forgot to put in a registration desk. Let's throw up a counter over here!" My room was on the first floor, with a window view of the airport. That is, it would have a window view if someone would wash the windows. I'm not kidding. The sun was going down, and there was some glare, but I could not see out of the window because of the grime. If anyone from the hotel reads this, I was in the room over the road that all of the shuttles take from the airport. Take a look (if you can)!
OK - so I didn't get the best room. I only have to stay here one night. Just plug in my laptop and ....Wait a minute - 10 bucks a day for internet access???? How about jumping into the 90's? Paying for internet access is ridiculous. The hotel has to pay a few broadband access charges, put up a few security enabled routers, and spend a couple of grand to make thousands of guests happy. Paying for internet service is as bad as going into a hotel room and finding a 20 oz bottle of water with a big price tag on it. Hey - wait a minute. There's a bottle up on the TV. $5 for a bottle of water!!!! unbelieveable!
Back to the internet. I went down to the business center to get my email, and you have to swipe your credit card to do anything in there, including web browsing. Not me.
The hotel is undergoing some renovations. There are walls that have big patches on them and the hotel seems to be trying to get better. The renovated parts look nice. But if you ever want my business again, stop the price-plus mentality.

I have to stay here for business. I have stayed in older side twice and both times saw bugs. The first time ants, the last time a roach crawled out of the bath mat. The newer wing room was bug free. The front desk just says sorry and that is it. I would not stay here unless have to- like me! Basically dated property that you would not think is a Marriott. They have a captive audience and seem to know it.
