We stayed at the Doubletree Suites on Westheimer on March 16, 2007. There were good and bad points about the hotel. The room we reserved was very large and it had a good layout. We had two rooms with two queen beds per room, a living room/dining room area, and a full kitchen.

Good points about the room: extremely large - we could have easily fit 8 people in the room, very clean, views of the galleria area from both bedrooms and the living room area, and the room was surprisingly quiet for being on such a busy street (westheimer).
Bad points about the room: the living room furniture was uncomfortable and kind of ragged, the room was a bit dated and worn out, and the beds were not very comfortable (although the sheets and blankets were very comfy)

The staff was generally okay. They seemed busy, probably due to it being spring break time, and not able to give full attention to guests. We self parked but they also had valet parking. The parking area is very close to the hotel. Also we got free cookies when we checked in - delicious.

I would probably stay at the hotel again but only if I got a good deal online. Don't pay too much for these rooms.

My husband and I stayed here Dec. 26-31 with our 3 children (ages 11, 9, 6) for the Texas Bowl. Got an awesome rate through the Texas Bowl website. Beds were great, rooms were clean and the staff we encountered were all very helpful. Loved the location----walked to the Galleria and tons of restaurants on Westheimer. Also, it was very easy access to the highway. There was quite a bit of traffic around the Galleria (especially on the weekend) but we were able to use the backroads to avoid most of it. Friends who stayed downtown for the game said it was awful and there was nothing to do. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in Houston!

We enjoyed our stay at Doubletree very much. The rooms were huge and the beds MAGNIFICENT, great location. Absolutely no complaints. I have stayed at other hotels in Houston even inside the Galleria but I prefer the Doubletree.

I thought this was a great hotel! I'm not normally a hotel person (not enough privacy, I prefer B&Bs) but I stayed here for a bachelorette party. We had a huge suite that slept 8-10 and it was very reasonably priced. Loved the warm cookies, the staff was really nice. We had some TV-DVD connection problems in our room and they sent someone up immediately to fix it. We hit the town that night and the shuttle took us places. They are limited to a 5-mile radius but the drivers were really nice and let us slide 1-2 miles outside the destination. It is not really walking distance to the Galleria for those who aren't familiar with Houston. You can definitely do it (and I have before) but I know too many people who would consider the distance considerable.

Doubletree Guest Suites - dated and threadbare

I don’t feel this hotel compares favorably with most AAA Three Diamond (current rating) properties I’ve stayed in. Overall - it looks dated and threadbare with a lack of attention to basic housekeeping. In the lobby – areas of the wood-paneled walls are worn. We found our room with faded wallpaper and old carpeting – and our balcony was covered with pigeon droppings. The garage had a fair amount of litter that looked like it had been there for some time.
