Just returned from a 9 night stay at the Houston Post Oak . Check in was easy, the room was very nice and housekeeping was top notch. The restaurant manager is very attentive and made sure all my meals were a "10". This is their new service goal. Noise from other rooms was never a problem and the location right next to the Galleria was perfect. Would highly recommend this hotel to friends/family.

My husband and I and our 2 young children stayed here last week. Thanks to Priceline we got a really good deal on the rate. I don't know if I would consider this hotel a 4 star as others have noted. The room we got (623) was spacious and comfortable. There was a nice roomy bathroom for the 4 of us although the shower curtain smelled moldy. For the most part we had a good stay. The only thing that went wrong was when my 6 year old son took is shower part of the ceiling "popcorn" fell on his head (see pictures)!! We called management and the promptly sent up someone to clean it up and offered to move us to another room. We declined to move so long as the ceiling didn't come crashing down on us again. I am inclined to think that they should have given us some kind of discount on our bill or free room service or something...but they didn't. The hotel is in a very nice part of Houston. Other than the ceiling falling on my son, we had a decent time.

As a business traveler, I've been at a lot of hotels (over 75 nights in the past 12 monts). So I was dismayed that a hotel billed as 4 star would have mold and mildew in the bathroom tub. This was on the exec level as well (13th floor). So the rooms are supposed to be upgraded.

I would classify it as a 3.2 star. It's decent, but I expect more from a 4 star. See attached picture for proof of mold/mildew in the tub area.

We wound up at the Hilton thanks to Priceline and it was a great experience. This is what I have come to expect from the better part of the Hilton Hotel family of properties. It would be perfect for business travelers but also has the comfort and convenience (to the mall) that made it great for our personal getaway.

Like the other "nicer" Hiltons I've stayed at the design of this one is decidedly modern, some would say austere if you go by the lobby. I think that's why it does not immediately strike you as a 4-star hotel as others have noted. It lacks the warmth and/or classic feel of other luxdury hotels, but it has all the services and ammenities. Go to the Fairmont or Ritz for your romantic weekend (but expect to pay more).

The rooms are well appointed, in great condition and are very comfortable. The free bottles of water are always welcome (as opposed to those with the $6.00 neck tag) as were the chocolates and turn down service. We also had a chance to visit the 14th floor lounge. And while the breakfast was very short on protein (i.e it would kill an Atkins person!) it was fine for getting your day going, clean, well layed out, and well managed.

Having stayed at the nearby JW Mariott and Omni hotels I would put this on a par with those (though again the JW probably is a warmer feelling hotel). And if you need to be in the Galleria area, it's a great choice.

  • Liked — Convenient to the Galleria and area shopping
  • Disliked — No protein options at the free breakfast.

I agree with the review before me. This is not a 4-star hotel. Don't get me wrong, there was not much wrong with it. However, nothing really "wowed" us. The rooms were average, customer service, average. Pretty much the only thing that made me upset was that you actually had to PAY to use the business center. It deffinately wasn't worth what I paid for at this hotel.
