Stayed here for three days. Friendly , courteous staff who truly understand the meaning of customer service. When there was a small problem it was handled promptly, efficiently and breakfast offered gratis for the next day. Breakfast buffet has extensive choices and food is delicious. Hotel is conveniently located for easy access to the 610 freeway which is the road that rings Houston. Found everything easily accessible from here. Rooms are quiet, clean and very comfortable bed. Would stay here again when in Houston.

Business serviceStayed here to be close to downtown.
Large, well presented clean room. Comfortable bed. Good sized bathroom with double sinks/vanity unit between bedroom and bath area. Room overlooked street and main police station, but I didn't notice any disturbing street noise.
Found the large kitchenette very well equipped. Selection of food from hotel's own market area was poor however, but I didn't starve the one night I didn't feel like going out. Did try the restaurant at adjoining Marriott-group hotel. Food was good, but service was poor.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Watch the hotel main entrance door. It's set so close to the street that the automatic door opening sensor has been angled so you litterally have to have your nose up against the glass before it will open. Amusing if only slightly inconvenient.
My only real disappointment was the free buffet breakfast. The selection and quality was very poor and regardless of the time I ate, the food was not very hot - the coffee was also luke warm. I realise that it was free, but I still think you should enjoy what you're eating.
If I am in Houston again, I may stay elsewhere, but only to compare the breakfast with another hotel's.

My company has a negotiated rate with this property that is close to our office. The hotel is geared towards business travelers seeking a clean, no frills stay.
Check-in
Check-in was quick and easy. They accomodated my requests. If you arrive in the evening they have a receiption with appetizers, chips, cookies. However, was a bit confusing with drinks.
Location
I really did not like the location of the hotel. It sits behind an abondoned restaurant and the back of the building sits across from a seedy looking strip of stores. As a single female, I didn't feel very comfortable walking in the back lot of the hotel alone. One of the doors was even propped during my stay in the early evening, which added to my concerns. There aren't a lot of options in the 1 mile radius that would be much better.
Room
The room smelled fresh, was basic and clean. Linens were crisp and white (new linens), but I found the bed to be a bit too soft. The closet had a newer ironing board and iron. I believe the rooms had recently been re-done. However, there were certain aspects (like the bathroom features) that you could tell were outdated. Bathroom was small and door barely closed in front of the toilet. Amenities were sparce, just soap and conditioning shampoo, no lotion. Towels were fine, but a bit crunchy. TV featured close caption, had ample stations and was easy to adjust.
Other
They did offer a business center in the lobby with a few computers, printers, etc. High speed internet worked well (I got a hub from downstairs). Fitness Center featured three treadmills, one eliptical, a bike and some free weights. Equipment was old but worked okay.
Service
The people at the hotel were sharp and helpful. The first night I locked myself out of the room by accident and they allowed me to get another key easily. This hotel also has a breakfast basket filled with cereal bars, water, etc. which I've never seen at a Courtyard, but was a really nice touch and think other Courtyards should follow suit. This is one reason I prefer Hampton Inn's, breakfast bags on the go. Makes it easy when you are heading to the office.
Final Review
If you are traveling on business to this part of town and aren't looking for much frills, this hotel should be fine. If you want to stay close to nice restaurants, shopping, etc. stay at the Galleria. I may do so next time for the sheer safety factor that I thought was lacking.

I arrived rather late in the evening to this hotel (after 10:30 PM or so) and one could guess given the fact that I was at a hotel, that I was a very tired traveler. I’m sure I looked tired. So I was somewhat annoyed when the woman checking me in kept trying to get me to sign up for some reward program. Why would you hassle someone about signing up for something when they are clearly just arriving into town, checking in, and probably just wanting to go to bed? All I wanted was the key to my room. The room appeared clean when I first arrived. The bathroom looked clean. However, when I pulled back the sheets on one bed, it appeared as though someone had been eating chips between the sheets. There were crumbs in the bed. So I made my way over to the next bed, and while the sheets appeared clean, the pillow case did not. It had makeup smeared on it. Next time I am in Houston, I’ll find someplace else to stay where I won’t be expected to climb into bed with old potato chips and rest my head on a pillow stained with makeup. The best part about my stay here was the very good Mexican restaurant across the street - Juanita's.
