My recent stay at this hotel was a mixed bag. I had called the Marriott 800 number a few days before arriving to request a king bed and no smoking room. Upon arrival, I am given queen beds, what’s the point of calling and requesting when they don’t even read what’s posted on their screen when you check in? I had to go all the way back down to the lobby and ask if they have a king bed which they did. This hotel seems to cater to groups and large parties. A couple of conventions where going on during my stay and the staff seemed a bit unnerved by it all if not overwhelmed. The front desk staff is very robotic in their duties, so not what I would call pleasant at all. As I checked in, no eye contact was made at all by the person checking me in. Once in the room, it was decent enough room, clean, somewhat small. The furnishing could use a bit of sprucing up, very tired looking colors around the room. There was a fold away bed sofa in my room which would be nice if you had children with you on your stay. The shower head in the shower was very nice, it was adjustable and you could control the pressure with a lever mounted on the wall. The bed was very firm, so if you like ultra firm beds; this is the hotel for you.
The air conditioner in the room made a strange hissing sound all night which made me think it was raining outside, very bizarre….The pool area was nice, had indoor /outdoor pool and you could swim to either side by going under a dividing wall in the middle of the pool area. The outdoor pool area seemed like an enjoyable place to sit and relax since they had a few palm trees and tables set up around the pool. The workout area is small but seemed to have newer type equipment for guest to use and small hand towels for working out. There is a gift shop in the lobby that sells star bucks coffee if that’s what you enjoy. The breakfast buffet was 25.00 a person which I thought was a bit high considering this is a *3 hotel and not a resort. And when I say it’s listed as a *3 im sure they are being very liberal on the rankings. If it is a *3, in my opinion it just barley squeaks by with this rating. On a plus note there are a few restaurants with in walking distance such as outback steakhouse and a few others not too far. Decent area of town should be ok walking short distances but anything further take a cab or I believe the hotel has a shuttle although I didn’t use it. Free parking, which for anyone that stays in hotels these days knows is a rarity. All in all it’s a decent hotel but there is major room for improvement here. Might stay here again if the rate was a bit lower.
