Description: CAFE MEZZA & GRILLE , introduces a new concept of dining to the Houston restaurant connoisseur. Mezza, meaning "appetizer" in Arabic, is an American cuisine with a Mediterranean flair that pushes the edge in flavors, innovations, and style. Having operated a major Houston restaurant, owner and Chef Mike Tibi opens his first sole venture combining the traditional American Bistro design with elements of his own native Syria. What came to fruition is a casual cafe and grille enriched with delectable sandwiches, pastas and salads interspersed with flavorful Mediterranean grilles. "My menu has something for everyone; hearty pastas, traditional American sandwiches, fresh homemade soups and salads. While at the same time we have marinated grilled kabobs, steaks, and "mezzas" or assorted Mediterranean appetizers such as hummus and baba ganooch," says Mike. "The food is healthy while being delicious and filling. If the body of the restaurant is American it is Mediterranean by heart and soul." The food at Cafe Mezza & Grille is nothing short of perfection-in its flavor, preparation, presentation and personality. Creative use of herbs and spices lend a distinguished flavor to the grilled steaks and kabobs. There is an unmistakable touch of Mediterranean, especially where the distinct aromas of saffron, parsley and other regional spices come through. There too is a touch of California with a stunning array of freshly prepared grilled vegetables, sun-dried tomatoes and expertly prepared chicken and seafood. Homemade dressings and sauces tantalize the taste buds on heaping portions of fresh pasta and salads. The dishes are so rich and savory it's easy to forget you are eating healthy (which will allow you to splurge for one of their heavenly desserts). Cafe Mezza & Grille isn't just known for the food though. To many, Cafe Mezza & Grille is the kind of restaurant (to borrow a line from a popular television show) "where everybody knows your name." It's a familiar place to crawl into a booth and find a little soothing familiarity. It's not uncommon to find Mike himself taking your order or cooking your food. The Tibi "something for everyone" philosophy doesn't stop in the folds of the menu. Cafe Mezza & Grille is a split personality of atmospheres that can run from a romantic table for two in a cozy booth off to the side to a table outside on a stunning patio with views of the bustle and excitement of the busy city street out front.

“Okay, yeah, I got the mango stuffed chicken too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

I met my old law school buddy here today. Haven't seen him in a couple years. Man! We told a bunch of lies! Both of us got the mango stuffed chicken and, yep, it was great. I'll have to come back another time and have something else so I can provide some useful information.

“Consistently Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

The food is fabulous. The prices are reasonable. The staff is accomodating. I live in Houston, and this is my go to restaurant for people from out of town. People ask, "Can we go back to that place you took us last time?".

Personally, I always get the Shish Tawook and upgrade from rice to the au gratin potatoes for a small fee. I used to get the mixed grill before I realized that the chicken was so good that I always ate that first. Additionally, the roasted red pepper dip is a must have. Since coming here, I have learned that is it Muhammara and have tried it elsewhere in town. Cafe Mezza remains my favorite recipe. The hummus is excellent too.

They also have seating that can acccomodate large parties.

“What a gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

We had the pick three appetizer and shared the mixed grill. Everything was very fresh and we were both stuffed even after sharing the grill. Our waiter was very attentive and the white chocolate bread pudding was to die for.

“Surprisingly flavorful in an unscale strip mall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

It's located near the Galleria, which is a nice area . Our server, Rami , was suggestive and very friendly. We tried the Fatoosh salad appetizer (fresh and minty), grilled veggie wrap (Rami's fav! freshly grilled and zesty in a perfect wheat tortilla. LOVED!), spicy chicken sandwich (just the right amount of spice and flavors), and the white chocolate bread pudding (hot and savory, but not too sweet at all). Inside, there's a bar surrounded by mirrors on the top half, a small, open kitchen, maybe 10 booths and and a dozen or more tables with chairs in the center. There were signs here and there referring to expanding the restaurant. They had a cute little outside area too. I really liked the laid back feel of the place and the food was so fresh. Can't wait to go back!

“What a surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

The staff is very friendly. Inside it's nicely lit and cozy. The bar is really cool! Prices are good. They have an outside area, but it's too hot and overlooks the strip mall parking lot. The area though is nice. The food was very fresh and tasty. We liked it a lot and will definitely return.
