Situated in the perfect location in the heart of Houston--Montrose--right off of Westheimer, but not ON Westheimer. And of course everything that's anything can be accessed from Westheimer. Lovely 1920s circa home, beautifully maintained, quiet, very private room in the main house;owner very helpful, pleasant. 24 hour "breakfast", nice balcony, wine glasses in room, movies available in the library, laptop in library, too. Would definitely stay there again.

The Lovett Inn is my new favorite place to stay.

I just spent the most pleasant week in Houston staying at the Lovett Inn. I was here originally on business but decided to stay the weekend and enjoy the 4th largest (soon to be the 3rd largest) city in the country.

The owners have a wonderful home to share and have the true spirit of great bed and breakfast proprietors. They have great attention to detail and have been so helpful and accommodating with a genuine desire to help me enjoy my stay in Houston.

When asking about the city I found them extremely knowledgeable and full of great suggestions. To insure that I had everything that I needed, they would go to the Internet and produced print outs of directions, reviews and up to date information on any topic I brought up. All this was done without my ever having to ask.

The Inn is located in a very quaint neighborhood 5-7 minutes walking distance to the Montrose District. Such great food, museums, a full-sized gym, spas, food stores, pharmacy and even a Starbucks are all within easy walking distance. Location, location, location!

In between the hustle and bustle of seeing the sites and painting the town, I made time to relax around the pool and take breakfast out to my room’s patio and read the paper.

They have some great innovative ideas that make staying at the Lovett so pleasant. The main house is set up with a very easy to use security system allows you access to the beautiful dining room 24/7. They have a wide variety of food available for those late night or early morning hunger cravings! I was especially pleased to see that they stocked the refrigerator with healthful items such as vanilla soy milk, yogurt, whole grain cereals, fresh fruit and juices but also with delicious pastries and cookies. Now that’s what I call a well-balanced meal! The single serve coffee machine is always ready to give me a coffee house grade cup of Joe when you need it whether I am starting my morning or heading out for a night on the town. Also, each room has a DVD player and there is a DVD video library as well as books to choose from for those nights where I wanted to stay in and rest. Their attention to detail really stood out to me and I realized how much work they must have to put in to achieve their success. It must really come from the heart.

I had a friend who was coming to town over the weekend. The Inn has a very impressive website which gives up to date information on what rooms are available along with pictures of each room. I suggested to him that he take a look at staying here. It worked out well because the Lovett Inn also has two townhouse buildings behind the main Inn. Each townhouse has two separate bedrooms, each with it’s own private bath and then a commonly shared kitchen, dining and living room. We each took one of the bedrooms and it was basically our own apartment! It is a great idea for small groups of friends.

Well, enough said. I hope that your stay here is as pleasant as mine was. I have plans to return on business in September and again in October and I know that I’ll be returning to the Lovett Inn.

I have stayed at the Lovett Inn 3 times in the past year and a half and each time stayed in a different room on the second story of the inn. Each time paid $120-150 for the rooms...not cheap but well worth it.

The house is beautiful, the management gracious, the noshes plentiful and delicious, and the rooms very agreeable. Yes, I did prefer one room over the others (mainly due to the bathroom and price), but this is a matter of taste. You can't go wrong if you stay in the main house, but note that there may be weddings or other events being hosted. (I cannot report on the adjacent buildings and accommodations.) Note that some rooms have showers rather than baths.

Even though the owners live atop the main house, you can come and go without problem or scrutiny; you might end up chatting with them over coffee in the dining room in the morning.

The management is friendly toward and welcoming of all (straight and gay, single and plural, with kids and without), and the inn's location in the heart of the Montrose district makes it particularly appealing--lots of good eats, shops, and bars (mainly GLBT) within easy walking distance. There is an outdoor pool as well as a library with DVDs that you can play in your room. I really loved having beverages/coffee available on the second floor. Parking is on-street, but I've never had a problem.

If you are out-of-towners looking for a place to stay and be welcomed in the Montrose district, then this is the place for you. You may get a better $ rate on a 3 or 4-star hotel downtown, but the rate for taxis and the appeal of Montrose make this location well worth it.

Beautiful old mansion, friendly staff, and snacks/breakfast available in dining room 24 hours. We made a special trip back to Houston enroute home just so we could stay another night.

We stayed at the Lovett Inn for three weeks in July/August 2006.

The House itself is full of character and very charming. It is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The swimming pool/hot tub and garden are beautiful.

But what really makes the Lovett exceptional is the friendly service. The self service breakfast is available 24 hours a day and contains a wide variety of great food. Our room was really well decorated, clean and well equipped. It had a DVD player and the hotel had a really great DVD collection which we made good use of.

THe guys who run the hotel could not do enough for us. When we went away for the weekend they lent us guide books, gave us lists of places to see, etc. In general, the atmosphere around the Inn is really friendly and laid back. The Art Gallery downstairs makes the lounge really inspiring and Cody (the House Dog) seems to make everyone feel welcome.

Most importantly, the location is superb. You can walk to so many
great restaurants from the Inn, also nice shops and art galleries. Montrose is a very cool neighbourhood.

All in all, we can't wait to go back to this lovely boutique hotel.
