I had to go to Houston to apply for a visa at the Italian Consulate and my boyfriend and I wanted to stay somewhere affordable, near the consulate, and clean. I generally opt to stay at places outside of the normal chains and was lucky to find something beyond what I expected especailly regarding the price and quality. The Lovett Inn was easy to find, in a wonderful little neighborhood with character. We arrived late and were given simple easy instructions on how to let ourselves in. We were greeted at the front door by the resident dog, Cody. He was friendly and patiently hung around as we found our keys to our room. We quietly crept through the grand, restored home admiring the architecture and cozy amenities of the inn. We already knew we made a good choice. We had reserved one of the less expensive rooms, but were somehow moved to a nicer room at no extra charge. We obviously did not mind. We were in the old carriage house behind the main house. Our room was clean, pleasantly decorated and had a wonderful four poster king sized bed. There was a dvd player and a dvd library in the main house as well as access to a small laptop to use the internet. Breakfast was served in the dining room and consisted of a generous continental breakfast with more than you could try. We were very satisfied and would stay here again if ever in Houston.
