My husband and I went to Houston two weeks ago for the Microsoft Partners Convention. All the others hotels were already full, so we took our chances in the Lovett Inn and it was a very nice surprise. It´s in a very calm street and the owners are very friendly and helpfull. Clean and confortable.

  • Liked — The staff is very helpfull
  • Disliked — We had to share the ar conditioning controls with the other room

I'm always a bit leery of booking B&B rooms online because you never know what you are stepping into however I was more than pleasantly surprised when I walked through the front door of this charming old mansion. Everything was clean, very well maintained and so QUITE!

Even though I arrived after hours Dan, one of the owners, was right there to greet me and show me around the house. He set me up with maps of the neighborhood and directions to the many great restaurants and attractions in the area. I walked around the neighborhood for two days and still did not see everything! It is very centrally located to downtown, gallery district, parks, shops, culture and everything in between.

There are a few negative reviews on the Lovett Inn and I can't help but wonder who these people are! While reading them I just couldn't understand how someone did not absolutely love this place! I'm a skeptic by nature but I couldn't find anything wrong with my stay.

The staff was very helpful and friendly, everything was clean and nice, the pool and garden were clean and very well maintained, the food was tasty, the tree-lined neighborhood is very cozy, my air conditioned room was the perfect temp and the house was so quite I thought I was the only guest, but I wasn't! The sleep number bed was so comfortable I took an unlikely nap one afternoon.

This was my first time in Houston and I keep patting myself on the back for choosing such a perfect place to stay. My only regret is not staying longer. I will definitely be back soon!

Forget about hotels in Houston, stay at the Lovett Inn!

The Lovett Inn in Houston is NOT your typical bed and Breakfast... if you want frills and lace.. this is NOT the place for you. If however, you'd like a clean, quiet home in which to stay where you will be enjoy a beautiful neighborhood, friendly, helpful innkeepers and restful surroundings... this might be just the place... it was for me.

I found this inn here and contacted them directly for a weeks stay. I booked the Lovett Suite and promptly received an email confirmation with throughough check in instructions. Their website represents the property very well and when I arrived I was very pleased that the property was even better than I expected.

The house is very clean and very quiet... I never was bothered from noise by other guests and did not hear footsteps in the hallway over or under me. The room was expansive and I enjoyed the sitting room, the jacuzzi tub and the wonderful outdoor balcony overlooking the gardens and the water fountain.

The location was perfect for me, I had business in the Galleria and Memorial Drive Areas and the drives were easy and convenient. The Randalls on Westheimer took care of my grocery needs and the Inn had plates and utencils available so I was able to use the refridgerator in my room to have light suppers or snacks whenever I wanted.

The innkeepers were all fabulous and quick to offer directions or to grant my special requests. (Only had one.. and they took care of it the same day.)

If I ever have a need to visit Houston again, I will definately return to the Lovett and I will recommend to others.

  • Liked — The large rooms and the friendly vibe. This is house is well loved and it loves you back!!
  • Disliked — Not one single complaint... I hated to leave.

I stayed at the Lovett Inn twice recently, in May and July. It's proximity to where I was working and to restaurants made it ideal. (I rented a car but my colleague did not and could easily walk to a wide number of good places to eat.) Great B+B facility with thoughtful touches such as all day breakfast in the old parlor, books to borrow and DVD's to see in your room. Stayed in two rooms and enjoyed the amentities. (Web site does a good job of showing what rooms look like.) I highly recommend ths Lovett if you like B+B's and friendly yet not intrusive hospitality. Also well located in a hip, gentrified section of Houston near a couple of the top rated restaurants in the city.

  • Liked — Too many things to list
  • Disliked — On street parking, but it was easy to find a spot.

Well... well well well... Where shall I begin... We made reservations for July 6th and 7th as we attended a wedding for a client of mine. When we looked at the rooms, they did not look like the website pictures looked. We were told there were some cancellations and perhaps we might be interested in staying in a room in the main house instead of the townhouse. He (One of the two gentlemen who own this place) said they were painting the suite above us the following day... Well I actually booked this particular suite a month and a half earlier on-line thru their website: Lovettinn.com. So they had plenty of time to "plan" for us and could have chosen more wisely the day in which they painted the suite above the room we booked. I received no email confirmation from them so a week before we arrived I sent an email requesting confirmation and the reply was two words: YOUR CONFIRMED. And the breakfast was continental and available 24/7. In other words, there was NO cooked breakfast. Well that's ok, but I was a little disappointed. Then we were told that there was a thermostat that was shared between our unit (7) and the upstairs unit and that if we get too cold to just turn off our vents. This was fine.. a non-issue at the time. The following morning, we awoke to heavy thuds and heavy feet and moving... etc. It was loud enough that it woke me up... and then it got really hot in our room, so I went into the shared hallway and turned the air back on because it was turned up to 85. I turned it down to 70. Thirty minutes later it was hot again, so I went out and THE OWNERS TURNED IT UP TO 85 AGAIN. I was furious. I did nothing though because we were going out antique shopping before we had to prepare for the wedding that evening. We left at around 11am and returned at 3:30. The maid had not come yet and once again, it was HOT. AGAIN. We had been back and within 10 minutes the maid came and spent all of 5 minutes in the room then left. Sooo.. we dressed for the wedding and left. The next morning guess what? IT WAS HOT AGAIN because they adjusted it AGAIN while they were painting the upstairs suite AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN. I went to adjust the thermostat and this time I turned it down to the lowest possible setting... We left shortly after 10am and it was not fast enough. I am disgusted as you can tell. The gentleman who showed us the property was pretentious and NOT hospitable. I am shocked that this place is open for business. There is virtually NO SERVICE. FREE is too much to pay. Stay away and save yourself from this nightmare on Lovett St.

Management response from lovettinn, Owner
(Management representative)

Regarding Kelly Carpenter's review... Please read all reviews and make the decision about the Lovett Inn for yourself.

* Kelly was given multiple rooms to choose from and she decided on the room she originally booked online. If she was unhappy with the room, she could have selected others because we weren't 100% occupied that weekend. .
* Painting the room on the floor above the room she stayed in had no impact on her room. I just mentioned it to her out of courtesy so that she wouldn't be alarmed to see a person who probably wouldn't look like a guest in the room above her.
* The painter (one person) arrived at 10am to begin painting, so he was not "stomping" around early in the morning.
*We typically leave the a/c set at 72 degrees, Kelly kept setting it at the lowest temperature possible - 58 degrees. We reset it two times to 70 to prevent the unit from freezing up.
* The maid did not go into her room earlier because the "Do Not Disturb" sign was on the door.
* We have been serving a continental breakfast since 1989 (not a hot breakfast). That information is posted on the website.
* Kelly only spoke to me when she checked-in and did not stop by or call to discuss any of her concerns with me. We have 3 emergency numbers listed in the room in case a guest is not able to locate us. She checked-in Friday afternoon and I never saw her again. She left the keys in the room and was gone Sunday morning.
* Pretentious? Read all the reviews about me and the people who work here.
* I'm sorry she had a bad experience, but I would have been happy to discuss her concerns if she had given me the opportunity. She has since told me via email that she will do everything possible to prevent people from staying with us. I would only hope that she would be honest.
