I loved the decor and cleanliness of my room. We were on the 7th floor. The rooms are stylishly decorated with a contemporary touch. I loved the faux granite countertops in the bathroom and the deep blue shower curtain. The bathroom was immaculate which is always a plus. Comfortable beds with plenty of pillows provided us with a wonderful night's rest after a 10 hour drive. The workout facility is small but well equipped with 2 treadmills (with TV screens on each) as well as an elliptical machine (also with TV screen). There are also a set of free weights available for use. Lobby, pool and all other common areas were pristine. We had a little trouble with our access to the garage($8 per day) but the security guard promptly came to our rescue and allowed us entry without delay. Front desk clerk was amicable and attentive. I got an awesome price on Priceline for a one night stay (we met family at another Courtyard hotel in Houston for the remainder of our stay). I would definitely stay here again if I were in Houston. Great location for the Galleria mall. We traveled with our kids but the hotel would work for business travelers, couples and families.

It was new but lots of quirks like no mirrors in the room itself, which was also very dark. There was not a luggage rack (called and asked for one and told don't have any). Room was hot or cold never comfortable. The Pool was 60 some degrees and hot tub 80. When we expressed concerns to front desk, we were told to put in out survey. We never received a survey. I would not stay there again honestly just did not like it.

Arriving in Houston after dark, with no reservation, we stopped at a few hotels in the Galleria area. They were either completely booked, or over our budget. At the Courtyard we were pleasantly surprised that the price was $99, plus a fee to park that was less than the others. For an additional $10 charge, we added a hot breakfast for two.

The front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful, both when checking in and out. Everything was new, squeaky clean, and beautifully decorated.

The breakfast was a buffet with eggs/omelettes prepared to order, served on real dishes with real eating utensils.

This Marriot ( under licence ) has only been open for six weeks. We arrived from Lisbon Portugal where the Marriot is superb after a long flight via Newark and arrived at around 4 am our time after waiting in a hundred yard long line at the Airport for a cab. I had reserved on route in Newark and the two people at the desk had my reservation. We had four bags . They looked at us and smiled.
" We dont have anyone available to help you" I was too exhausted to respond and went and found a trolley and load the heavy bags, Shlapped them into the elevator and we went to our room. As we were finishing unloading someone arrived, probably a security person.

In the morning the duty manager failed to appear although her card said she would be on duty at 9am. Finally one of four managers that Marriot have in the area turned up. Well trained not to cross swords, he gave all sorts of stupid reason why they dont have staff to assist with clients cases and agreed to knock off the price of breakfast. Fine, we went to the Galleria one and a half blocks away which was the reason for choosing this "hotel"
and returned to close the cases and ring down for a cab and to send someone for the baggage. "We dont have anyone" I was
really fired up by this after the mornings session. "We will look for someone" and indeed someone did turn up, a maintainence man and helped with the trolley to take down the bags to the cab.

I informed the manager that I would write to Trip Advisor because his response was inadequate but because of his gesture thought twice, but when I received the response a second time I thought that this warning was essential.

Its also know as Marriot by the Galleria or Courtyard.

I'm certain that by writing this, I will draw (potentially unwanted, for myself, anyway, in terms of being able to easily get a room here) lots of attention to this brand new, lovely hotel. It had only been open for two weeks when I stayed there, and the staff was tremendously accommodating and attentive. The rooms are lovely and quiet, the location fabulous, and the rates were also quite competitive. Parking is in an adjacent garage, the breakfast is fresh and bountiful, and the rooms very nicely appointed.
