“In spite of being fairly new, this is not a top-end Courtyard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

As a priority Marriott Rewards member with frequent stays at numerous Courtyard properties every year, I found this property a bit inconsistent. First of all, the true nature of the location is not really clear from the website. The fact is that the hotel is located in the middle of a block and is only accessible via an alley: it does not front on Sage Road. There is parking on the site (for pay), but the access is via an elevator that most guests with whom I rode agreed was strangely dark. Be very diligent in ascertaining the hours of the restaurant, because it closes earlier in the evening than is stated in the in-room literature, and closes earlier in the morning than in many other Courtyards. The restaurant staff is very friendly and positive, as is the front desk staff. The room bays are a bit shorter than usual, but this is not really a problem because the furniture is arranged to compensate for that. The closet is not built into the wall, but instead is a very small and rather uncomfortable to use wardrobe forming part of the desk structure. There is no in-room safe deposit box, which is disappointing for a new hotel in this age when travelers like to leave their laptops, I-Pads, documents, etc. in such a box when travelling. The bathrooms are well laid out and work quite well. The housekeeping staff is efficient and clean, yet this is a hotel where guests frequently have to share the elevator with the housecleaning carts and staff, since there is no service elevator. Overall, once you become accustomed to the quirks, this is an efficient place to stay.

I would return. The staff was amazingly friendly, helpful and professional. They even remembered our names when we would come and go. They offered assistance and went out of the way to be helpful. We were totally impressed in all aspects of our stay. The breakfast was delicious and included a wide assortment of food and healthy choices that could satisfy the largest appetite or provide a tasty healthy meal for a more health conscious consumer. The rooms were clean, large, open and well kept. Over all it was a wonderful stay and we would suggest others try it.

Nice new hotel with a decent cafe and close to great shopping and restaurants. the only bad thing I could find is not enough sugar and cream with coffee. Really good price for what you get.

Room Tip: stay away from elevators and as close as you can to bottom floor

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed our location and price, but sorry to hear that you couldnt find enough sugar and cream. In the future we would be happy to deliver more to your room. We also feature complimentary coffee in our lobby from 5am to 11pm each day in which we supply multiple flavors and brands of sugars and creamers. Thank you again! As a platinum member with Marriott you come to expect a certain level of service and comfort when staying in one of their hotels. Recently I stayed at this location for the 2nd time within the past year. While its not a terribile hotel its certainly nothing special either.

I was given a standard room versus upgraded room. The sofa had severe sagging meaning that when you sat down you felt as thought you were going to fall and hit the floor. The bed was a standard marriott bed and it had the standard bathroom.

The internet was average but nothing too fast. The breakfast was decent with the standard omelet bar, cereal and breakfast meats. This is not included as part of the standard rate.

The rooms and common spaces were very clean, and bed was comfortable. I did not run into any unpleasant employees; rather, they were all very delightful and helpful. The breakfast buffett was one of the better ones I've seen.

Location was good, but it can be a bit awkward to find as it's between buildings and accessed by more of an alley than a street.

The title says it in a nutshell. This hotel, although admittedly tough to spot sandwiched in between other buildings with an alley entrance, has all the basic business traveler necessities. These days, any hotel with free in-room Internet, both wired and wireless, is great. Hotel parking at $15/day is manageable compared to triple that rate I've paid in other city downtown areas across the country. The breakfast buffet with omelette station is a nice step up from continental breakfast if you don't mind the $16 bill. The Galleria location is great with many shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. The staff was great and cheerful in a Stepford Wives way that you hope for when staying in a hotel. The lounge area with full bar rounded out what I like to see so overall it gets my recommendation.

The staff were very helpful and that really made all the differnece - helping me with taxis and general info, and getting me some fruit when I missed breakfast. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained and the wireless internet was fast. Good option for business. The only disappointment was the pool, which is very small - too small for any kind of lap swimming.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your most recent stay. We value your feedback. I'm glad that our staff was very helpful and that your room was clean. I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed in the pool. In the future, we do offer complimentary passes to all of our guests to Bally's Fitness. Bally's Fitness does have much larger pools that are designed for excersise and swimming laps. Please come back and see us the next time you are in the Houston area!
