I stayed here two nights over Labor Day Weekend with my boyfriend. We had a "Petite King", which was a little tight, but it was very nice. The room was beautiful - granite counters, and a huge flatscreen TV. The turndown service included a lighting a candle which was a nice touch. We were able to hang out at the pool for awhile, which was nice, but a little small. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. i also liked the location in the muesuem district, it is a very pretty area and an easy walk to the muesuems and the park. It does seem to be geared towards a younger, "hip" crowd. Not sure it would be the best place for families with young children.

On the negative side everything was pretty expensive - drinks, food, room service, etc. But it is fun, and worth it if you feel like indulging.

  • Liked — the feeling of indulgence
  • Disliked — food, drinks and room service were overpriced

Stayed at ZaZa Houston over Labor Day weekend. We had stayed at the property several times when it was the Warwick, an historic Houston property. Where it was once an old money hotel, it's now targeting the young hipster, only not as effectively as say a W, the Standard, The Parker, Viceroy, etc.
NIce decor heavy on dark, muted tones. Photography of rock stars/models/celebs througout. Rooms have been nicely redone and bathrooms are considerably larger than their war-era predecessors in the orginal. They have also added a group of rooms around the pool, so there are plenty of balconies and cabanas to be pool-side. Bar packed with Houston's scenesters chugging $12 drinks.
However someting about it was just not right. Service was good but not great. Lobby and pool music was all wrong. Movies looping behind front desk tried way too hard (scenes from B'fast at Tiffany's and Moulin Rouge were supposed to make us feel hedonistic?). Bar had DJ and plenty of beauties but seemed off.
The one outright negative was the filthy bed shawl laid stain-up on our bed that was replaced after being inspected by housekeeping. Why not just replace it without question?

This is the place to stay in Houston - it does not get any better than this!!

We booked a balcony king room for one night (we live in Houston - just wanted to check out the hotel.) When we were checking in we decided to upgrade to a suite (the Fantastico suite) and there was no problem doing that - prompt and polite front desk staff. Mauricio brought us each a glass of champagne, and then took us to our suite. This guy makes one heck of a good first impression!!!
The Fantastico suite is Fantastic!!! The views are awesome, the suite is large and beautifully decorated with a great bathroom, two closets, flat screen TVs, large dining room table and large comfy sofa. We just loved it!
We had drinks poolside, and then in the Monarch bar. We ate a great dinner in Monarch, and had the best waiter in town. His name was Thomas, so when you go, be sure to request Thomas as your waiter - he was so great! Afterwards we had dessert, coffee, and some wine outside on the large and super-cozy comfy patio. Today when we checked out, it was quick, friendly, and a great way to leave - Mauricio brought us each a cold bottle of water, and we were left with a great impression again.
This hotel is magnificently decorated, delightfully staffed, and quite honestly, one of the very best hotel experiences we have ever had!
Definitely stay here!

  • Liked — It's a toss up - the staff is great as is the whole hotel!

After years of travel......so enjoying many 'high end' properties....the Hotel Zaza out performed them all.........it was the STAFF and their 100% commitment to excellence, respect and deference for us, the guests that made our stay the best experience of our travels, to date........we have long tired of staff making us feel they are doing us a favor to let us grace their establishment......it was so refreshing to have our every need anticipated and all those 'extras' (the chilled water awaiting us in our car as we left for our trip home; the overall spa experience with a 17 page spa menu, the young man at the pool immediately waiting on us as we sat by the pool and offering to fetch a particular newspaper the hotel did not have on property; the spa attendant taking me personally to the business center when I could not find it..........oh, and shall II mention the treatment of the pets!!!!! We cannot wait to return and be able to have our precious pugs with us.......the valet anticipating we might be needing our car as we waited to check out and approached US to take our valet ticket...........! and the room service........devine! ) For us, being treated as respected and appreciated guests was wonderful..........the pool area is so nice.....the cabanas so comfortable.....well, you get the picture.....and SO romantic.......sensual is the word Zaza uses and it fits.......do yourself a favor and get to the Zaza in Houston.........you won't regret it! Manager John Remmers deserves a special commendation for somehow managing to impart the idea of excellence to his staff.......and the staff? BRAVO!!!!!

I stayed at the Hotel ZaZa for a conference being held there. I expected it to be business as usual. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it actually felt like a vacation. The service was impeccable; everyone there is committed to ensuring a smooth and comfortable stay. The accommodations are luxurious and although the hotel had been open little more than a month I would say they are well on their way.
