When planning my trip to Houston, I asked what was "the" classic hotel. I was told the Warwick, now called the Hotel Za Za. What good advice. This is an elegant hotel in the right area of Houston with all the things that make a grand hotel grand. We were met by friendly valets that parked our car and bellman that carried our bags. Everyone was friendly and anxious to help. Coffee was provided each morning at the "Butler's Pantry" near the elevator along with a Houston Chronicle. Breakfast each morning was really special. It's fun to be treated like a big shot every now and again. The orange juice was an orange 30 minutes prior. The bar was busy, but we were seated and enjoyed our outdoor table overlooking Main St. and the fountain.

For people not used to staying at old, grand hotels, the bath rooms are frequently small. Especially when compared to modern bath rooms. Sometines the buildings support structure gets in the way. Our toilet was cramped, but I'm not one to look for problems. Huge glass shower and the colest sink I've ever seen.

When I return to Houston and I am making the decision as to where to stay, I'll stay at Za Za.

  • Liked — It's an elegant property in an elegant neighborhood
  • Disliked — I enjoyed the Za Za enough to want to return. No negatives.

I travel to Houston quite often and typically stay at the Medical Center Hilton. It was time for a change and Hotel Zaza was a big change.

For not much more $$$ Hotel Zaza provided quite a different ambiance. Very nice.

Yes - seems like a sexy hotel with room ammenities geared towards that style of living. wink, wink. nudge, nudge. Not my cup of tea, but otherwise an excellent hotel.

We had to cut our business meetings short a day due to Hurricane Ike headed directly to Galveston/Houston.

My room was LARGE with large screen TV and a view of the fountain.

I will be back in a couple of weeks and returning to the Zaza.

I stayed in this hotel 2ce and both times the service was superb. This hotel was recently renovated and conveniently located across the street from museum of arts. Its very classy and great for business travelers. Both times when I checked in I had nice little favors in my room (1)a complimentary Veuve Clicquot and Godiva truffles (2nd time) good red wine and chocolates. Their gym is very nice, they provide complimentary headphones and fruit at the gym. Check out the private room downstairs, they have pull tables there (free). I'm shocked that some other traveler's experience w. zaza was so different than mine. When I stayed there stuff went out of their way to accommodate all my needs, the general mgr himself helped me to put on my coat when I was checking out. May be they treat business travelers differently?!

We just returned from a weekend at the Hotel Zaza in Houston. We really enjoyed the hotel. Our room was just lovely. Lots of space and great amenities. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was excellent. And the lounge at night was quite a scene. The pool on the weekend was also a scene, which was a bit of a pain as it is not the place to relax and chill out but rather quite a bit of a pick up scene. That was the only drawback, as it wasn't our thing. But the hotel was just great...good business center and great service overall. It's also in a really lovely section of Houston right next door to the Museum of Fine Arts. A really pretty area that was also very close to all major attractions. The light rail system is right outside the door. Just great!

  • Liked — the roomy room
  • Disliked — the pool scene

This hotel is very poorly run. Everything from check in to check out was a hassle. I had no help getting my bags up to my room. My room had a broken window in it and the pool was so filthy it was disgusting. By filthy I mean the pool had cigarette butts, cans, old newspapers, and other trash in it. On the third day of my stay a housekeeper let herself into my room without knocking while I was getting dressed and then claimed she thought I was gone for the day. The promotional pamphlet inside my hotel room claims the Zaza is in the top ten for business travelers but the desk in my room had no plug available. Very hard to be a business traveler with no laptop or cell phone charged. I tried to buy a t-shirt in the hotel gift shop and even the girl working there was too busy on a pesonal phone call to help me find my size. Given the quality of the staff, I absolutely believe the story from the girls earlier who left a review. I had a hard time even getting in touch with a manager to talk to about my stay.
