We were looking for a weekend getaway from Dallas and decided to go to Houston.

this hotel was great for our family. Breakfast was included every day - Eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, meat, cereal, oatmeal, make your own waffles, breads.

Evening "snack" Monday through Thursday. The one day we went down we had pizza rolls, chips, and garlic bread. They serve beer and wine in the evening.

USA today at the door every morning.

My kids liked the heated pool. It really was nice and warm.

If you are into shopping, this hotel is a block from the Galleria. We could see the Macy's from our window.

This hotel had easy access to the highway - it made for easy travel south to the space center - or if you were going to Galveston or Moody Gardens for the day.

My colleagues and I stayed at this hotel for three nights for a training seminar. We checked in after 5:00 PM on a Monday and were greeted with fresh baked cookies and their hotel's daily guest reception buffet in the lounge. The lobby was clean, bright, and tastefully decorated. The front desk staff was professional, friendly, and accommodating.

My 2 room suite was modern and clean with all the necessary amenities expected in a suite: full size refrigerator, stove top, small appliances, dishwasher, dishes, etc. The bedding was plush with many fluffy pillows, although the sheets were not as soft and smooth as my sheets at home. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was a nice touch. The bathroom was modern and extremely clean with a granite counter of adequate width. My room was quiet, and I didn't hear sounds from my neighbors or traffic. There is no construction in or around the property.

There was a TV in the living area as well as the bedroom. I was disappointed that the channel line up did not include HGTV, but then I don't know which hotels do have HGTV. I'm sure the channel line up was adequate for TV buffs.

The internet connection was not wireless, but they did at least provide the cable. A wired connection sufficed, but I wished there was a second connection in the bedroom. I was so tired at the end of the day. I didn't feel like sitting upright in a hard chair when I could be working in bed in front of the TV.

The daily breakfast buffet was very good. There were hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, and potato/pepper/onion medley (I guess this is a fancier version of hash browns - yummy!). There was also the standard continental fare of cereals, breads, and fresh fruit. The fresh fruit was excellent since it is in season (pineapple, strawberries, melon).

I didn't get an opportunity to sample the weekday evening reception menu. I did see that they served pasta one night, enchiladas the next night, and something that looked like sloppy joes on the last night. Houlihan's is next door and Quiznos is around the corner. There are other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel since it is located across from the Galleria. You can see the front of Macy's from the Lobby. The location seems generally safe for walking. There are many business travellers and families out and around. I quickly walked from the Galleria at 8:45 in the evening and did not feel 'threatened'.

The meeting room for our seminar was a bit cramped, but adequate. We had approximately 16 people in our class. We missed having refreshments and snacks available at breaks, but that is no fault of the hotel. I assume our company simply didn't pay for this amenity. The temperature was comfortable in the meeting room with a few chilly moments.

Lastly, the staff was excellent. They were responsive and very accommodating. The front desk staff is well trained and they attempt to provide the type of service you would expect in the really high end hotels.

I would recommend this hotel for business or family travellers. The only reason I didn't rate this hotel excellent was it didn't have wireless or multiple internet connections and the sheets, though adequate, were not as soft/smooth as I expected. I would definitely stay here again.

Greetings fellow Tripadvisors,

Our four night stay at the new Homewood Suites - Galleria was most enjoyable. Garage parking (no fee) attached to the hotel was most welcome in the rainy Houston weather. Staff, particularly the breakfast and reception staff, was efficient and interested in the quality of our stay. Pool was small but certainly adequate for a bit of exercise and the hot tub was clean and relaxing. Highly recommended, particularly if you desire access to the Galleria shopping district (essentially across the street). The wife, teenaged daughter and I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which was just fine size-wise. Very quiet!

This hotel is new and amazingly decorated. My one bedroom suite was perfect in all ways - quiet, clean, beautifully decorated and excellent amenities. The location is great - within a block of the Galleria and lots of restaurants. The staff was incredibly friendly - this hotel was my fourth in ten over two weeks. It was hands down the best and some of the others were really high priced hotels - Hyatts, Renaissance, etc... There was a complimentary evening happy hour with an appetizer buffet. The breakfast was nicely presented, but just ok as far as selection. The reason I ranked this location a 4 instead of a 5 was there were just a few kinks - the pool not inspected and available, one elevator was down most of my stay, the parking area was not clear and easy to find, the business center printers did not work and the staff were unsure how to fix them. It has amazing potential, but there were still a few "new" problems. I have already booked my next stay and would recommend this hotel without reservations.

As soon as I walked in to the hotel, the front desk male clerk said I looked like his high school computer teacher. Thus, we had friendly conversations during our four day stay to celebrate my birthday and attend the Essence Music Festival.

The room was nicely decorated and we enjoyed the full kitchen. The closet was small and poorly designed. The cabinets in the bathroom provided extra space to store your make-up and hair products. We were on the 11th floor and had a view of The Galleria, which is across the street. This is the place to stay if you want to "shop until you drop" and return for a tasty afternoon snack which is provided free Monday-Thursday. The free breakfast in the morning had a nice selection of danish, eggs, sausage, juice, cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc.

Unfortunately, we did not get to enjoy the pool. It had failed two inspections due to door problems. Another complaint is only one computer worked in the business center. The workout room was adequate and functional.

Once the "kinks" are corrected this hotel will be a five star. We had a pleasant mini-vacation/celebration and will return to HSH-near the Galleria.
