My colleagues and I stayed at this hotel for three nights for a training seminar. We checked in after 5:00 PM on a Monday and were greeted with fresh baked cookies and their hotel's daily guest reception buffet in the lounge. The lobby was clean, bright, and tastefully decorated. The front desk staff was professional, friendly, and accommodating.
My 2 room suite was modern and clean with all the necessary amenities expected in a suite: full size refrigerator, stove top, small appliances, dishwasher, dishes, etc. The bedding was plush with many fluffy pillows, although the sheets were not as soft and smooth as my sheets at home. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was a nice touch. The bathroom was modern and extremely clean with a granite counter of adequate width. My room was quiet, and I didn't hear sounds from my neighbors or traffic. There is no construction in or around the property.
There was a TV in the living area as well as the bedroom. I was disappointed that the channel line up did not include HGTV, but then I don't know which hotels do have HGTV. I'm sure the channel line up was adequate for TV buffs.
The internet connection was not wireless, but they did at least provide the cable. A wired connection sufficed, but I wished there was a second connection in the bedroom. I was so tired at the end of the day. I didn't feel like sitting upright in a hard chair when I could be working in bed in front of the TV.
The daily breakfast buffet was very good. There were hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, and potato/pepper/onion medley (I guess this is a fancier version of hash browns - yummy!). There was also the standard continental fare of cereals, breads, and fresh fruit. The fresh fruit was excellent since it is in season (pineapple, strawberries, melon).
I didn't get an opportunity to sample the weekday evening reception menu. I did see that they served pasta one night, enchiladas the next night, and something that looked like sloppy joes on the last night. Houlihan's is next door and Quiznos is around the corner. There are other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel since it is located across from the Galleria. You can see the front of Macy's from the Lobby. The location seems generally safe for walking. There are many business travellers and families out and around. I quickly walked from the Galleria at 8:45 in the evening and did not feel 'threatened'.
The meeting room for our seminar was a bit cramped, but adequate. We had approximately 16 people in our class. We missed having refreshments and snacks available at breaks, but that is no fault of the hotel. I assume our company simply didn't pay for this amenity. The temperature was comfortable in the meeting room with a few chilly moments.
Lastly, the staff was excellent. They were responsive and very accommodating. The front desk staff is well trained and they attempt to provide the type of service you would expect in the really high end hotels.
I would recommend this hotel for business or family travellers. The only reason I didn't rate this hotel excellent was it didn't have wireless or multiple internet connections and the sheets, though adequate, were not as soft/smooth as I expected. I would definitely stay here again.
