My friends and I just finished staying at the Club Quarters in Houston (I'm actually typing this from the lobby!) It is very nice. Free high-speed internet, very clean, and very secure. You need a room key to get in the building, activate the elevator, and of course to enter your room. The breakfast they provided was great as well. The reviews that mention it being in a bad part of town are correct, however, it seems that there is no "good" part of downtown Houston.

But, unless you are traveling alone, DON'T STAY HERE!. The rooms are by far the smallest hotel rooms I've ever seen. I read the reviews that mentioned this but didn't think much of it. We had two twin beds and there were four of us. Just having one room for four people is understandably our fault, I'm just using this anecdote to illustrate the size of the rooms. With two people sleeping on the floor, there wasn't enough room for our luggage anywhere! We had to keep it in the shower because there was literally no room on the floor.

The hotel has clearly divided what was once one normal sized room into two tiny rooms. This is evident by the 1/2 window we had that seemed to disappear behind the partition. I'm sure the people in the room next to us were looking out the other half.

Everything about this hotel is great except for the room size, which a HUGE drawback. It could work for one, but that's it.

A gloomy reception area with "self check-in" machines that needed a receptionist to operate and took longer than a regular check in. The hotel is located in a reasonably seedy part of downtown and if I was a single female traveler I wouldn't feel safe leaving the hotel alone after dark.

The headboard in my room was screwed to the wall over the electrical socket - so neither bedside light nor clock/radio could be plugged in. The light and the clock were there - they just couldn't be plugged in! The wireless network was hopeless; bring a lan cable if you can - it might help.

Otherwise a pretty ordinary hotel experience. Beds are fine, water was hot. If you have to be downtown, it is good value, but I wouldn't stay here otherwise.

The positive first - helpful and friendly staff, nice folks. As to the hotel itself, it was not located in a good part of downtown and nothing was really within walking distance (at least not after dark). Lots of outside noise as well. The valet parking, however, was responsive and fairly quick and the price was on par with the downtown Hilton Americas on Lamar Street (~$20 per day). The rooms were very small, probably (and I'm not kidding) one-half the size of a standard "Hilton-type" room. Flat screen TV but only because the room was not big enough for a "regular" hotel TV. Very small bathroom - no tub. No restaurant or room service on Sunday. Also, no iron or ironing board. Look, If all you want is a place to sleep and to do it cheaply, CQ is okay but I will not be a return customer at any of their properties.

No free breakfast as stated online.
No hot water when I wanted to take a shower, morning or evening. I complained about this each morning (3 days). There was hot water at 6 one evening, but that wasn't when I wanted to shower.
The rooms are nicely appointed and the beds are comfortable.

The hotel was not so bad. There were a few problems though. In one of our rooms, the hotel staff checked in a person with the same last same into our room because they weren't paying attention. They gave us a key, we went in the room, and there was a person laying in the bed. Key cards are not of good quality. They lost there charge everyday for our six night stay. Quoted that we would have free continental breakfast. The price was ~ $7-8. There is no hotel parking, except for the valet which is $20/ night. Also, in rooms requested two twin beds and received one queen bed.
