“Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Great Hotel with fantastic employees. All of the valet drivers are quick and respectful. Highly recommend! Wish the hotel had a pool/spa and larger exercise room, but all in all it is a great place in a perfect location.

The valet took 15 min to approach me and to take our car. He didnt offer to take our bads out of the car. You think for 20.00 to park plus tip that theyd be more pleased to help as they advertise. We got our room key and went into the elevator where an employee was in the left corner of the elevator and didnt even greet us. He actually dozed off while waiting for his floor, which was 3rd floor. He didnt even say have a good stay or have a good weekend, nothing. We actually said "we hope your night gets better". When my husband and I got to our room we were very disappointed with the room. The bed wasn't at all appealing. The colors in the room didnt make a statement and it was depressing. Not to mention very very small. The pillow was old. You can feel all the cotton balls in the pillow. At least thats what it felt like. Very uncomfortable. The bed is very mushy, loud and you can feel every spring. We love to relax and watch movies. We were flipping thru the channels to only realize its only very basic cable. We called the front desk to ask if they had On Demand. The lady that answered wasnt sure, she placed us on hold and when she came back on, she just said the word, "no". But she did say they had free coffee, tea and water. I'd rather pay for coffee, tea and water than to have no HBO, or no On Demand or any way to watch movies on tv, especially in this very unpleasant room. You can hear everything in the hall. The bathroom shower has mold. The ceiling has water stains. The vending machine doesn't have much choices and you have to go to the lobby for the vending machine. We will be happy to check out in the morning and 99% sure we will never return or recommend this hotel. This room was way too pricey (189.00) for not much in return besides free coffee, tea and water. Thank you but no thanks!

The Club Quarters Hotel chain really tries to do it's best in every city that I have stayed at a Club Quarters Hotel, especially Manhattan New York. This was my first stay at the Club Quarters Houston property, where I stayed for two nights.

My room was 826, which faced a brick wall of the neighboring building. All rooms numbered 23-30 face a brick wall. I was disappointed at first, but later realized that the brick wall kept the room quiet and allowed me to leave the curtains open while still maintaining privacy.

Downtown Houston is in a constant state of street and building construction and the noise is irritating. The brick wall side of the hotel turned out to be the quiet side. There was no decent views except for construction on the other three sides. The taxi driver told me that the street construction has been going on for over 3+ years now.

The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, even the front office staff were great. (I read the other reviews and expected the worst.)

The rooms are small, but clean and well appointed, like a relaxing bedroom or a large cruise ship stateroom, due to the older small room design of a historic hotel, which cannot be helped. Larger suites are available for longer stays.

Cold filtered water dispensers and plastic bottles are located on every floor, free of charge. The lobby living room has a free lending library, free coffee beverage machine, tea, soda, snacks, fruit. What a nice surprise. Lower level has the well appointed fitness center, the ice machine and buckets, and eight new washers and dryers, laundry soap & softener, all free of charge!

What would really put this hotel in the top list of value and convenience for a long term stay properties is if it offers a free breakfast, even just a continental breakfast in the lobby, besides the free coffee, tea and soda. I really admire and choose Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inns, La Quinta, Country Inns & Embassy Suites because of their free guest breakfasts. People like not having to hunt around for breakfast, and a free breakfast shows care and value to guests.

All in all, I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to my next stay at this or another Club Quarters Hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms 23-30 face a brick wall. But these rooms are actually quieter and more private than the noisy...

A great place to stay in the heart of downtown. The staff is very friendly and Paul the valet brought out my car promptly every morning. A lot of different venues and restaurants all walkable from the hotel.

I wouldn’t lead my fellow travelers astray, so here’s what you need to know about this place. I stayed here 5 nights, but will probably look for something closer to the downtown core my next time in Houston. My first impression was that this hotel had the vintage charm that really shows the Houston culture. The staff, servers, valets and management all seemed very friendly. Everyone was genuinely willing to help where they could. At checked-in, I realized my room was directly across from the elevators and they were able to move me to a quieter room. The rooms (around $130 a night) are very small and the bathrooms are even smaller. Housekeeping is “open” until about 3pm and the service was hit-or-miss. You get all the basic amenities needed for your typical business traveler, but the rooms are no-frills. The bed wasn’t all that comfortable, the rooms have thin walls, the gym was nice but needs some updated equipment and the $12 breakfast buffet didn’t seem to provide very much value. Order off the regular breakfast menu, the coffee is much better.

Room Tip: Effective 2/11/12, there is some construction going on outside the hotel.

We are in the process of replacing mattresses as well as fitness center equipment and our restaurant's breakfast buffet is better today than yesterday...

Fantastic hotel right downtown. ALL the staff were helpful (not always the case) and the hotel was very clean and well maintained.
The room was small, "cruise ship" small. So theres not a ton of room,
Aside from that, everything was perfect. Comfortable bed, closet, all clean. Bathroom was nice, hallways were too.
You can find a lot to do and eat by walking 5-15 minutes.
Great choice.

This was a great find in Houston. The hotel is very nice and a great value. Proximity to the GRB convention center was within walking distance and there are also good restaurants in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful as well, especially Peter who drove the free shuttle.
