“Too good a place for only 7 reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

This place has been here forever, and those who know, go often. The bagels are amazing, and the food is delicious as well. They can get pretty busy, but worth the wait. Be sure to get a baker's dozen on your way out!

“Little hole in the wall place but great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

We go for the authentic New York style bagels but love to eat breakfast here! Delicious bagels!! I get a dozen every time we go. Had the Denver Omelette with Home Fries & a Sun Dried Tomato Bagel. All of it was delicious! You better get there early on the weekend or you may have to wait a while but it will be worth it!

“Best bagels & Favorite Breakfast in Houston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014 via mobile

I've been coming to this restaurant for over 40 years & I love it. The long wait tells you something, this is a local legend. It's the only place I've ever been that cooks their egg whites with Pam, & their unhealthy choices are also great. It takes you back to the 70's. They have the same wallpaper, cramped seating, & decor from the day they opened. Eddie makes you feel like family, & the waitresses have worked there forever. Try to sit at the counter, this is my favorite people watching place. The bagels are the best in town, & if you're sick, don't miss the homemade chicken noodle. soup.

“This is it - REAL bagels !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

OK, the cafe is great for breakfast. Has been for many, many, many years. Old style deli where everything is cooked to order exactly how you like them. And of course, you can get their own bagels however you want them.

We live about 30 minutes away, so the real reason for our visits is to stock up on REAL bagels. Whatever they do is the way I remember them in NY. High gluten (whatever that means but gluten free folks are out of luck on these), they have just the right chew-ability, and they have all the right flavors.

I buy 2-3 dozen and freeze them. They will even give you the freezer bags and ties. Sometimes they forget, just ask and they will pop them in. They defrost perfectly in the microwave (30 seconds at 50%) and toast up great. Having said that a few always disappear on the way home because the aroma in the car from the warm ones is irresistible. I remember about 20 years ago my son went with us and by the time we got home the bag was half empty! I almost turned around to get more!

And by the way, don't plan on stopping on the way home from work to get bagels. They are a morning and lunch place and close between 3-4 in the afternoon. I suggest going for breakfast and picking up the bagels then. Weekends are great.

“Simple cafe and bagel shop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

Nothing fancy. Great bagels to take home and a mixture of food in the cafe ranging from Jewish to Mexican of all things. Reasonable prices, good quality food, friendly staff. Nice place to have lunch. Can get crowded. Near a grocery themed Walmart so possible to kill two birds with one stone.
