Description: One of five children, Jim Goode was born and raised along the Texas Gulf Coast. His father was a shift worker at a nearby refinery and his mother spent her time taking care of things at home. Most weekends, you could find the whole family at the local area beaches where the kids spent their time fishing, crabbing and playing in the surf. Jim loves this way of life and he especially loves the food. So in an effort to combine his fondness for the roadside diners that dot the Texas and Louisiana coastline with his love for the region's seafood, Jim began to explore how he could translate his passions into a dining experience that would ultimately bear the family name. In 1986, he located a passenger train car that looked like it would fit the bill. He negotiated its purchase and moved it to its current location on Westpark. A few months later, Goode Company Seafood was born. The concept was to grill fresh seafood over mesquite, or fry it in refined oil with a thin batter. So, while you'll find signature dishes like campechanas, seafood gumbo and whole stuffed flounder on the menu, you won't find sauces or heavy layers of breading to mask the flavor of the fish. And if something isn't in season, you won't find it on the menu.

“Did you say shrimp cocktail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Their shrimp cocktail is taken to a whole new level, sea food campechana is outstanding. Can be eaten as an appetizer (better to share) or as a main course (very good size). Everything I have tried here is good from the poboy sandwich to some beautiful fish. Recommended.

“Nice and consistent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Really good seafood, portions are too large though. The price is cheap, the fish are fresh and the staff is very attentive. Nice and consistent each and every time.

“Really Good Food and Service but a little noisy and crowded weekends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

We had just come back from New Orleans and we wanted something similar to the excellent seafood over there with authentic Cajun or Creole twist. This was a good fit. We really enjoyed the stuffed flounder and my son liked his ettouffe. The seafood rice is to live for!
Great choices for younger kids too.

Prices were good for the quality and quantity served. Thsi was pleasantly different from the usual fare at some of the seafood chains.

The large hall setting can be overwhelming on weekend nights with so much noise, my husband and I could barely hear ourselves. Sunday afternoons are quieter though.

“Decent food, but great service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

We were visiting Houston and heard about this place and decided to check it out. Their were alot of older patrons and families and didn't really fit the bill for a "night out", probably better for a lunch spot. Our server, wish I could remember his name, was very attentive and pleasant. We ordered the campechacha and that was delicious, definitely recommend. Salads were fresh and we really liked the cilantro lime dressing. However, the redfish that we ordered to split was kind of dry and didn't have much flavor and I can make better rice at home. Like I said though, the service was great.

“Great Christmas Party”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We had a Christmas party. The pricing was decent, service was excellent. They easily handled a crowd of 75 people and everyone was pleased.
