“Disappointed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014 via mobile

Wanted to try something different. Service was good. Food was not real good. I got the grilled pork chops and my daughter got steak. The chops were not good. Not even really grilled. Her steak was tasteless
Not a place we care to eat at again.

“Open on New Years Day..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We have a motorcyle riding group that always plans a Polar Bear Ride (normally cold) on January 1st. It is always a challenge to find a credible restaurant open on this day of the year. This year we found a solution in "The Black Eyed Pea". Although the weather was bad outside and we had to forgo the motorcycle ride, we all agreed (16) to still meet at the restaurant for lunch. The service was good. The down-home cooking, served the complimentary "black-eyed peas" was a nice touch on this day. Although the weather was disappointing outside, "Black-Eyed Pea" made up for it inside. Many enjoyed "Mama type favorites" such as Pot Roast, Meat Loaf and Chicken Fried Steak.

“a visit to an old haunt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We visited the Black-Eyed Pea located on Hwy.290 (No.West Frwy) and was a little disappointed. We haven't eaten there since
we left Houston in 1998, and found some of the food wasn't as
good as in the past, maybe a change in the preparation. But if you like fried green tomatoes this is the place. And the chicken fried chicken is still tasty.

“Delicious Hot Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2010

Just got back from a late lunch at this restaurant. It had been years since we ate there because the DFW location is terrible. Everything was hot and delicious. We has cheese broccoli soup with fresh homemade rolls. Then we had Chicken strips with squash casserole. The squash casserole is the best. Service was also very good and friendly. We may go back tomorrow.
