“Quick, tasty, and inexpensive Thai Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

Thai Cottage is good Thai food in a hurry. The restaurant is small, clean and cozy, and is good for a casual date, family dinner, or just a quick, comforting meal. This location also does a lot of to-go orders, and food is always packaged well so it doesn't get soggy during your commute home.
The restaurant serves beer & wine at low prices, but they do not have an extensive menu of either.
My favorite dish here is the catfish curry. It's two large, panko-breaded and fried fillets of catfish served with your choice of red or green curry and rice (I choose the green curry because I like the veggies that come with it - bamboo shoots, peas, zucchini & basil). The catfish portions are very thick and fresh. For $13.95, this is enough for two huge meals, though I usually can make it into 3 or 4 if I'm actually controlling my portions.
My husband loves the chicken curry (red, green, yellow and panang - we're not picky!) and the soft shrimp rolls (similar to other Thai restaurant appetizers). Over the years we've also had the pad Thai, fried rice (LOVE the crab fried rice & pineapple version), chili basil, tiger cried, as well as various tofu & veggie dishes. All were good, as are the other apps/soups we've tried: cheese rolls, curry puffs & Tom Yum. Listen to what your tummy is craving and I don't think you can go wrong with anything here, especially for the price.
Note: for curries as well as some other dishes, you can specify spiciness. Level 3 is a pretty good middle-of-the-road spice (their default spice level if you don't specify) and 5 is pretty intense, and I can take the heat. I usually hover around a 3 or 4 because I want to enjoy the flavor of the meal, not just the spiciness.

“Fast Thai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

This Thai Cottage is located at the corner of Wesleyan and Richmond in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston. In a trip mall setting with other dining establishments next to it, makes parking a bit challenging during rush times. The food and service is fast and the quality of the dishes choices similar to those found at most Thai restaurants. The curries were my favorite and with chicken, the green, yellow and red curries were just perfect. Out of the kitchen the spice level comes spicy which in Thai standards is likely a level 1 and it packs a punch. If you are not used to spicy hot, then tell the wait staff to skip it entirely or you'll feel it. Depending on how busy they are, service is fast and quick. There is usually a wait to be sat. The dining room is small and can be cozy tight for crowds of four or more.

“first restaurant I go to when I am in the Houston area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

I am always on the run when I go to houston but lunch at the Thai cottage is a must. Authentic thai cuisine at a reasonable price. You won´t be disappointed if you are looking for a quick bite without the fast food taste
