My family went to Garson for my husband’s birthday. We had a large party. Everything was going well until my mother needed to leave early. My mother told the waitress she needed to pay for her meal and leave. The rest of the family continued to eat our meals and socialize. The waitress came back to the table and to my mother’s surprise her credit card had been charged for the total cost of the meal. That is she was charged for 16 people. My mother tried to tell the waitress she misunderstood her request to only pay for her individual meal. This miscommunication could have happened to anyone. The problem is when the manager reprimanded us for not saying the bill needed to be split. They said they don’t ask customers about if they are splitting the bill and that the customer must tell them. We weren’t even done with our meals at the point she charged my mom’s card to talk about billing. I heard the manager speaking loudly to her staff about our table and us wanting to split the bill. The waitress came over to the table and refused to give me the total cost of my portion of the bill. She said due to us not informing her about the split she could not tell me how much my bill was. She wanted me to hand over my credit card without telling me how much I was being charged. To make a long story short the bill was paid in full. My mother called the bank to clear up her wrongly charged credit card the following day. The customer service agent at the bank requested to speak with the manager of Garson on a three way phone call. The bank agent simply needed to hear from the manager of Garson that the charge was an error. The manager once again was so rude over the telephone the customer service agent at the bank ended the call and credited my mom’s card.
