Recently had dinner at Cafe Annie with co-workers. We were seated right away and dinner was excellent. I had the steak with white garlic sauce. My companions had lobster, lamb chops, & a tuna steak. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Dessert was excellent also. I would definitely eat there again.

Swanky...

You will stand in line if you do not make a reservation. You will experience some crowdiness. You will notice the slightly-arrogant atmosphere, and the haute-cuisine-establishment-wannabe attitude.

However, the place is well appointed and the food is satisfying. I'll admit you can pay less for better food elsewhere, but Cafe Annie is a classic Houston experience. Good for impressing a first date, for a special ocassion that calls for festive and elegant dining, etc. You get the picture.

Annie will never dissappear, but do not be fooled by the appearance or the price list - this is not the best ticket in Houston.

The hostess' were warm and while our table wasn't ready for us at the time we reserved it, the handsome young men at the bar were entertaining and made the wait nonexistent. Service was outstanding, even for a friday night crowd. The crabmeat tostada was delicious. In fact, all the appetizers seemed very unique. We looked at three different food menus (strange) but what is the most impressive is the extensive wine list hosting different wines from all price ranges. If you can't find something you like on here then you are probably hopeless. You are definitely going to pay for the experience, but its worth it.

My husband and I visited Houston for the first time and opted to spend our evening out dining at Cafe Annie. The service was outstanding...the servers were unobtrusive, yet always there when we needed something. We did not have to wait forever for our food. The food was absolutlely to-die-for. My husband had the stuffed lobster and I had the King Salmon. We also ordered the scallops with apple tortilla for our appetizer, although we skipped dessert...we were just too full. The portions were perfect...we didn't leave feeling "stuffed" but we weren't hungry either. It left room for a late night room service dessert! We consider ourselves to be "foodies" and Cafe Annie is at the top of our list!

Cafe Annie's biggest obstacle is that in a city as diverse and full of great places to eat like Houston, the price and food are not worth it when you have so many other options. I had the lamb and ceviche. I know fancy restaurants are supposed to be skimpy on the portions but this place is real lean. I definitely didn't get full and paid a lot of $ anyways. You're not going to regret going, it is a nice place, but I wouldn't go again.
