I have dined at Kanomwan a few times a year, but haven’t dined at the restaurant lately and was craving some Thai food so my first thought was to hit up Kanomwan. Unfortunately the food was not as good as previous visits and the service has become rude and almost non-existent.
I ordered the Pad Thai and spring rolls. The Pad Thai used to be quite good, but tonight was lacking in flavor due to a lack of spice, too many sprouts and a total of 3 small to medium sized shrimp. The spring rolls were average and in line with most other Asian restaurants.
I dined tonight with my 2 year old son and 4 month old daughter and was told the restaurant does not have high chairs which I found very odd as I have dined at many restaurants in Houston and almost every restaurant that I have been too has high chairs. When I suggested to the cashier it would be nice if the restaurant would have some high chairs she suggested that most customers bring their own high chairs and I should do the same if I wish to dine at Kanomwan with my children. I also ordered a rice soup for my 2 year old son and the waitress served the bowl of hot soup over my son’s head with the intention of placing this bowl in front of him.
The food at Kanomwan used to make up for the typical sub-par service and poor attitude of the staff, but after tonight’s experience my family and I will be dining elsewhere.
