“Wine Pairing/Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

We attended a wine pairing/dinner that was held in the private dining area upstairs. The courses we were served were fabulous not only in their presentations, but in the incredible flavors that we experienced. The Spring Garden which consisted of Foie Gras/Pickled Blackberries/Herbs and the Halibut/Beef Short Rib/Ramps were two of the many highlights of the evening.
Fred Jones did a wonderful job of pairing the wines from Domaine Serene with the six course meal.
If you enjoy excellent food, service, and wine, then take time to eat here.

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Decided to give it a try after being warned by a couple friends that it was overrated and pretentious with mediocre food, given the overall good reviews online. Should have listened to our friends. Staff was unwilling to make any alterations to food to meet dietary restrictions and menu was too focused on sounding trendy. Tables were very close together and lacked any privacy. Would not recommend.

“The food was more than I expected!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013 via mobile

We wanted a more casual evening so we went to Provisions. There were four of us and we started with a couple of the bread and cheese parings. The breads were great. Fresh warm and great. The Gouda was very strong. Not to good.
We then shared everything. The salad. Yum. Cumin dressing was different but good. Then we had the red eye tuna! So, so good. The Hamachi was great. The mussels were super good with curry. Who'd have thought. Also had the short ribs. Not the usual short rib recipe but a welcome change. The foods are very flavorful. We had desserts both were yummy. Not heavy. Melt in your mouth. So good. Will for sure be going back. Can't wait to go to Pass...

“Houston's Finest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

Oh my gosh....my wife and I went with our favorite foodie couple and the four of us were totally blown away. We arrived at 6:15 and left four hours later with smiles on our faces. We cannot wait to go back in three months (the menu totally rolls over every four months). Three of us had the 8 course menu with one having the 5 course. One was gluten free and the other was egg and almond free. Two of us had the matching wines and the other two had champagne from the champagne cart. The dining experience is somewhat like being at a chef's table with the staff being extremely knowledgable about the cuisine and more than ready to discussion any details of how each course is preparted. I highly recommend that you go to their website to see the menu. We have gone to only one other restaurant similar to this in the world....The Herb Farm near Seattle.

“Full review of The Pass - Excellent!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We went to eat at The Pass without any preconceived expectations and we were pleasantly surprised. The Pass is accessible through Provisions but the address is the only thing the two restaurants have in common. The hostess takes you into The Pass by pushing on a section of wall that opens up to a secret chamber and ends up in a minimalist decor dining room. Stark white walls. No art. Only the view of the kitchen on the end of the dining room is of intrest. No doubt this place is all about the food.

They offer a 5 course and an 8 course dinner. We chose the 8 with pairings. Descrbing the food is simply impossible as it is presented in such an artistic and creative way - it is like nothing you have ever had. Creative, different and AMAZING taste. Rarely do the 3 all come together like this. Every dish we were served was impeccibly presented and the combination of textures and flavors were incredible to the palate.

The dinner lasted over 2.5 hours and was a very entertaining and wonderful experience. If you want a great meal and a new experience - this place is for you. Bring your credit card though. Our tab for 2 was nearly $400. We will be back.
