This was my first time in Houston, and it was a very good first impression thanks to the staff of Hotel Icon. From the moment I pulled up to the valet attendant until check out, each staff member I encountered was accommodating and polite. Even a housekeeping staff I shared the elevator with complimented my necklace. Sounds silly, but it's the small things that make people feel welcome.

The bathroom was huge (almost as big as the room, I'm not kidding!) and immaculate. The shower had a full-size shampoo/conditioner/soap dispenser which was a huge plus for me; I have long, thick hair and hate having to use 2-3 mini bottles just to wash my hair. The window from the bath tub opening to the rest of the room was nice for watching TV while relaxing in the tub.

The design of the room is definitely not your run of the mill chain hotel. The bed was OK, a little too firm for my taste but not horrible. Complimentary local and toll-free calls and high-speed internet access were a huge plus.

The surrounding area is not very busy, and almost a ghost town on Sundays. It is on the outskirts of downtown so if you're looking for a lot of activity you might not be satisfied with this hotel.

If I ever come to Houston again, I will definitely be staying at Hotel Icon!

From the prompt greeting by the valet to the fine reception, I enjoyed my stay very much.
The room was very nice, almost Italian in quality. The fitness center was excellent, if deserted.
My dinner at Bank, the restaurant in the hotel, was excellent! Very good wait staff and just fine food with a difference.
My only negative was very weak room service coffee. Well, there were also no wash towels in the bath.
I will try to come back whenever in Houston.
Ciao

I travel to Houston frequently and stay downtown. I've tried them all - this is the best. It can cost a little more - pay it, you'll be glad that you did.

I wanted a hotel that was in central Houston so I booked a week stay at the Icon last minute through Expedia. I couldn't get a standard room for the whole of my stay, so got an executive room for the first night. When I went to change rooms they said I didn't need to, so I got a week in an executive room for the price of a standard double!

The suite was huge, the bathroom was enormous, with a massive bath and a shower you could have had a party in. All the facilities in the room were great, the bed was nice, the was a big sofa and TV, the desk was a good size, the internet worked all the time and the room was very clean.

I ate in the restaurant one night and had breakfast several times. Each time the food was of a good standard and came quickly.

The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help (well, I got upgraded and they didn't seem bothered when I kept losing my car ticket). My only issue with the staff was one of the waiters in the restaurant kept calling me darling but I couldn’t work out if that was a Texan thing…

Some of the décor is a bit over the top, but I had a fantastic stay!

We stayed at the Hotel Icon on our wedding night. The valet overnight parking is $25 and there's no other option unless you park on the street (and we're cheap so we should have done that!). The staff were all very friendly and accomodating. The lobby was really pretty with deep reds and purples in velvet and dark wood.
The room itself was pretty as well - king size bed, tv, sitting area, desk, huge jacuzzi, large shower, large sink, gave us robes, and tea/coffee for free. The put flowers and chocolates on the bed after they've turned it down and it's a nice touch.
It is on a street that has a lot of life - we stayed on a Sat and Sun evening and oddly it was louder on Sunday - you get a decent amount of noise off the street but we're from NYC so we're used to it. But if you're wanting silence, you won't get it.
Overall, it was a beautiful room, great bathroom, good service and we would go back.
