We have made this hotel our Houston choice. And there are numerous reasons. Well sized rooms, even in the standard category. Awesome bathrooms with Molton Brown amenities. Water Pressure like the good old days and nice crisp 500 Count sheets on the beds....
Room service from the Bank restaurant and you have the makings of a grand evening.

The only problem is that like in most smaller hotels, service service service can be a problem.....The front desk staff could be more pleasant...But for 160.00 a night.. the place really works.

Just returned from a weekend at the Hotel Icon, and I have absolutely no complaints. The hotel is beautiful, located in an active nightlife area, large rooms, fabulous bathrooms, wonderful service. I just loved everything.

The beds in the rooms were exceptionally comfortable, and the bathrooms were huge. Great tiled floors, large shower, and a jetted garden tub. We got the bath butler one night--I highly recommend it.

The spa facility was nice as was the workout facility. The space was clean, and the equipment was in great condition.

Also, I cannot say enough about the restaurant. Great food. Outstanding service. We got engaged while we were there. My fiance arranged to propose to me in the wine vault. Very romantic. Everyone was so nice, and the restaurant manager, Evan, went out of his way to ensure we had a wonderful weekend. At the conclusion of our stay, we found ourselves wishing we could stay another night at the Icon.

I loved the Icon. The bed was comfortable and the vaulted ceiling room was nicely furnished and quiet. The lobby is cool and the bar is one of my favorite hotel bars.

I stayed at the Icon in early August, certainly not the best time of the year to visit Houston. It is a well designed property and has some sophisticated offerings, but the service is just not working.

Mind you, there were not too many problems, but when problems arrise, you see the difference between a real luxury hotel and Icon. No one follows through. No one responds and if they do, they don't seem to be able to fix the issues. It feels like the hotel has been "programmed" and if your needs fall out of the program, they just give up...reminds me of my computer! This just does not compare to Four Seasons, or even companies like Kimpton or Joie de Vivre, who really understand boutique hotels.

This hotel needs some soul and a management team that understands what "personal" service really requires.
