HI is a great boutique hotel that has wonderful architecture and a stylish design. Stayed in a deluxe room that posessed a comfortable bed and a GREAT bathroom. The shower had two shower heads which hit your front and back at the same time(I need to get one of these at home!) Maid kept the room clean and was happy with their service. The Bank Restaurant is located within the hotel and is for those looking for the "high end" meals. The main course portions were small and the bill came to $130 for two by the time we were done.....Hotel is in walking distance to the train and other activities in the area, so it is in a great location. The I-45 is right down the street. Overall, the HI is highly recommended for those looking to stay away from the common chain hotels

Fantastic service. What a difference to find something with such character and characters in a world of bland, ubiquitous US hotels. Breakfast was good, the décor fun and the complimentary car service very convenient. The only problems we encountered could have been solved by leaving the comfort of this very nice hotel occasionally – cocktails from the bar were not very good and water from the mini-bar was horrendously expensive at $7 a bottle.

I read about Hotel Icon in Western Interiors magazine and was not disappointed. Inventive decor and warm friendly service were to be expected. But I was delightfully surprised by the details....free local calls and DSL access, an in-room coffee & tea station, delicious room service. Plus the Whiskey Bar was perfect for client entertainment. A great value for the money. I will definitely stay there again.

I'm surprised by all the rave reviews given to the Hotel Icon. It's a nice enough hotel (though the somewhat dark and gloomy faux Southern baroque decor wasn't exactly to my taste, but if you like bordellos, then maybe this is for you) but hardly the "personal luxury boutique" hotel it bills itself to be. And surely not the best that Houston has to offer?

I stayed here for two nights. First the positives. The rooms were spacious and the beds much more comfortable than they at first appeared. The bath was huge. The staff was friendly and eager, though the service was far from polished. The restaurant is supposedly a Jean George creation, but I found that hard to believe. The food was mediocre and overpriced, especially by midwestern standards (we're talking NYC prices for glorified diner food here). The location is in downtown, but there's not much to do or see in the immediate neighborhood, so unless you're a business traveler who has business to conduct, the location is hardly a plus.

All in all, an average hotel trying very hard to convince itself and its guests that it's somehow a luxury hotel.

Attentive staff from arrival to departure. Great location in downtown Houston with restaurants and clubs within a short walking distance. My traveling companions an I visited the Whiskey Bar in the hotel and had a great time with the staff being attentive yet unobtrusive. We dropped a pile of cash sampling the different drinks and 4 bottles of champagne and I don't regret a thing. Gret hotel and bar combination. I _will_ be returning soon. Highest recommendation.
