For the business I was conducting I requested an early check in. I was assured it was possible but to check with them the day before. I did that and the room was available (no prior resident) and everything was on track. Evidently the rented the room out overnight to some rowdy contingent because not only was I not checked in early but actually delayed beyond normal check in time which had a catastrophic effect on my business.

They tried to accomodate me with alternative rooms but they were not on the level of the penthouse suite I had arranged. Although they made an effort to accomodate my insistence, it was I who had to push to receive any kind of accomodation; it was not forthcoming from them at all. I specifically looked for a luxury hotel for this trip and thought the amenities and service I needed would be provided at Icon but they fell far short of the customer service experience one would expect at that level. I wont be returning.

We stayed at the Icon Hotel on a Saturday night. We chose the hotel based on reviews on tripadvisor and its location to Minute Maid Park. We arrived at the hotel early (2pm) and they quickly checked us in to a lovely room (818). It was a corner room with windows on two sides. We valeted the car, despite the expense ($27). The room itself was very nice, though some might consider it small (I thought it was plenty big for two people). While the room might be small, the bathroom was huge. The shower had a "sunflower" head and a regular head with really great water pressure. The bed was very comfortable and the free wifi was very much appreciated. Everything was very clean (even under the bed...I checked). The only thing that might need to be upgraded is the TV. They have a standard definition CRT TV--not HD or flat panel. With the niceness of everything else, I was expecting a flat screen, but that was a minor issue. The staff was fantastic. In addition to the front desk staff who were very helpful in finding a restaurant and informing us about the shuttle (which we decided not to use...we walked to and from Minute Maid, which was less than a mile and took about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace). Someone from housekeeping saw me looking for an ice machine, and she took my bin and told me that she would bring it to me. In about three minutes, she brought back 2 containers of ice to the room. The valet was also very fast and very polite. Overall, I was very impressed and would likely stay again should I find myself needing to stay in downtown Houston.

I am attempting to schedule a 2-day medium sized business meeting. The catering rep was hard to get a hold of and was very slow on supplying me with information via email. I set up a meeting with him and traveled to downtown to meet him at a specific date. I showed up 10 minutes early. When I arrived, everyone acted strangely when I said who I was there to meet. After waiting 30 minutes, I concluded that the catering rep was not even in the hotel and had stood me up. I left and am not coming back. Something is wrong at this place. And I wasted a morning on this trip to downtown. Very frustrating. (If the Hotel acts this way when it is trying to get your business, imagine the way it will act when you are committed to the Hotel --- totally unprofesional.) Some of the staffers did seem upset and concerned with what happened - and they deserve credit for that.

I booked my stay with Orbitz.com not knowing what to expect of this hotel. It is in Downtown Houston and I booked it for my sort of honeymoon stay. This Hotel was really nice and cozy. The valet is 30 a night but at least it is in a parking garage and not outside..the staff and valet were very nice. Once we got to our room I noticed that my room didnt have a hot tub, which I kind of suspected it would happen. I called the front desk and they said we should call again the next day after 4. We called the next day and sure enough they moved us right across the hallway and gave us a room with a hot tub. The room was pretty big me and my wife had enough room to just do whatever...The tv is another thing though they need to get some bigger tvs not that is that big of a deal but it would be nice. Other than that the staff was very helpful and the room service was good too just a little pricey. I really enjoyed the beds ,very soft and big. All in all I enjoyed my stay and recommend this hotel.
