Great location for my stay for a convention at the George Brown convention center. Meals were very pricey, but there are several other options within walking distance. Room was nice and clean, very quiet, rather small. Pool area very relaxing with large hot tub. I used the spa facilities for a manicure and it was wonderful. Check-in took a long time due to influx of convention attendees. The one thing my room needed was a vent fan in the bathroom.

This is a convention hotel through and chances are when you do check in, the lobby will be a madhouse. On the evening we checked in, which was a Saturday, the lobby was a zoo. Despite the craziness of the lobby, which reminded me of an airport, the staff was extremely warm and attentive. They assured us that are room would be more relaxing and indeed, it was. It had a nice bathroom, good water pressure, decent hot water (though that could have been a little better) and comfortable beds. I can’t say there was anything spectacular about the room itself, but it was good in a plain sort of way. It was on the 17th floor and the nice view made up for the generic décor.

The pool area was great. It was on one of the top-most floors and had floor-to-ceiling windows so you could swim and enjoy the view at the same time. Next door the pool was the hotel restaurant called Skyline Bar and Grill. We didn’t eat there, but I looked in and kind of wished we had. Again, terrific views and a romantic atmosphere all around. The food would have to be really terrible to make dining in such a nice room a disappointment. The other restaurant, Spencer’s for Steak, had good steak, but not nearly as much ambience as the Skyline restaurant.

What the Hilton had going for it, was location. It’s right next to the convention center and the Toyota Center. If you plan on seeing a Rockets game or a concert, you can’t beat the location. It’s also a very short drive from The Museum District, the zoo and the medical center.

We recently returned from a short stay at the Hilton Americas and I am happy to say that I found the entire experience very satisfying. After an extremely stressful flight (severe storms in the Northeast caused major delays), I was pleased to find a beautifully decorated lobby and friendly hotel staff waiting for us in Houston.

Our room was very clean, the furnishings were impressive and the bed was quite comfortable. The spacious bathroom featured Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries, a marble vanity and adequate water pressure - which is very important to me.

This hotel is located a block away from the Toyota Center in the downtown area and our taxi fare from Houton Hobby airport was approx. $25. It is within walking distance of a mall as well as an entrance to the Houston Downtown Tunnel System.

Complimentary round-trip car service is provided to nearby locations (don't miss the Aquarium restaurant and the chicken and waffles at The Breakfast Klub). When you are ready to return, you just call the driver approximately 15 minutes ahead of time, and your car will be waiting to take you back to the hotel. Our drivers were consistently prompt, knowledgeable and friendly.

We found every aspect of our stay to be above average. Room service was moderately priced, tastey and delivered on time by a courteous staff member. We enjoyed the beautiful pool located on the 12th floor where we were able to take in breathtaking views of the city from the many floor to ceiling windows.

I would recommend this hotel to my closest friends and would definitely stay here again.

I had to go to Houston for a couple of days for work during my kids' spring break, so we all went. Chose this hotel for the indoor pool and got a nice price ($89) on Hotwire. We found the hotel mixed. Nice although smaller room with two double instead of usual queen beds. Lovely pool on the 24th floor with big hot tub and outdoor terrace - children loved it.
But hotel is huge and not very busy while we were there. Strange atmosphere. We went to the bar on the 24th floor for pre dinner drinks at 6 pm on a weeknight and were the only ones there. Except several staff who chatted loudly and watched tv but didnt manage to give us any nuts to go with our drinks. Although they weren't busy, gave us a room with a view partially blocked by a big generator and it was a handicapped room with walk in shower etc despite the fact we had two kids with us. That's the first time I used hotwire and felt like I was given a crummy room as a result as plenty of other romms were empty. But also made me wonder why the disabled deserve crummy views... Staff were very offhand at best throughout - some to the point of rudeness.
A mixed bag - good for this price but I'd be unhappy if I'd paid the regular rate.
