I had to go to Houston for a couple of days for work during my kids' spring break, so we all went. Chose this hotel for the indoor pool and got a nice price ($89) on Hotwire. We found the hotel mixed. Nice although smaller room with two double instead of usual queen beds. Lovely pool on the 24th floor with big hot tub and outdoor terrace - children loved it.
But hotel is huge and not very busy while we were there. Strange atmosphere. We went to the bar on the 24th floor for pre dinner drinks at 6 pm on a weeknight and were the only ones there. Except several staff who chatted loudly and watched tv but didnt manage to give us any nuts to go with our drinks. Although they weren't busy, gave us a room with a view partially blocked by a big generator and it was a handicapped room with walk in shower etc despite the fact we had two kids with us. That's the first time I used hotwire and felt like I was given a crummy room as a result as plenty of other romms were empty. But also made me wonder why the disabled deserve crummy views... Staff were very offhand at best throughout - some to the point of rudeness.
A mixed bag - good for this price but I'd be unhappy if I'd paid the regular rate.

Stayed at the Hilton Americas for 5 days while in Houston meeting some friends. Definitely a hotel to use while in town. it is very business oriented with a lot of folks attending meetings and conferences, but the service is impeccable. The rooms are very clean, the food is of a supreme quality and the personnel is very friendly. All this comes with a normal price tag on rooms, F&Bs. Definitely a go.

I did not actually stay at the hotel, but my fiance and I went there for Valentine's Day dinner to the Skyline Grill on the top floor. The atmosphere is great with an amazing view, but the food is TERRIBLE. I had the muscles to start which came out cold and tasteless. I ordered the special seabass. Again ice cold and so bland. My fiance had the lobster salad which was also nothing special and bland. His steak was ok, but he said Outback is way better, and his steak was $40. Our waiter had too many tables for a fine dining restaraunt. Also, I could not get a capuccino at the end of the meal because the machine was broken. Basically we paid almost $200 for cold bland food with a nice view. Then, we went to the lobby bar for a drink. I wanted a capuccino but was again told that to get that I had to get up and get one from the lobby coffee stand in a paper cup. My fiance ordered a scotch which was listed as $7 in the menu, but the bill came and it was $9, apparently because he ordered it on the rocks, whatever. Then, the waitress gave us the wrong change. What a night.

Stayed there for a week during the last week of January. Everything was in great working order. No problems. Very clean, professional and Texas folks were extremely nice.

Room overlooked the Totoya Center, and minute maid park is about a block away. You can see it from the building.

I am a gold Hilton Honors member and have stayed at many, many Hilton properties and this one is one of the best looking hotels I have stayed in. The property is in great shape, room was large, bathroom was roomy, all appeared to be clean and well maintained. The bed was comfy and the mini bar was well stocked. I don't normally use the mini bar since the prices are outrageous but I was exhausted so I opened the bar. All I needed was a diet soda. So I checked the date on the bottom. I was shocked to see a 2005 expiration on most of the sodas in the bar. WIth that, I went downstairs to the hotel store. Very nice store. Purchased a soda and some cookies. Cookies were within the date but stale tasting. I figured I would get a nice (expensive) breakfast the next morning. I probably should have received some benefits as a gold member but didn't. That program seems to overlook me repeatedly. I went to the restaurant for breakfast and purchased my $10 belgian waffle. It was hot and looked impressive but was a little soggy. Maybe it sat around for awhile. It did take 15 mins for it to arrive. That coupled with the warm orange juice (4.50) made the $15 breakfast annoying. The place was packed with a conference but they seemed to handle it well. This is an impressive looking hotel. I'll probably give it another chance if I am in Houston again and am hoping that it will do better next time. If I wasn't on such a short timeline, I would have shared my displeasure.
