I am a gold Hilton Honors member and have stayed at many, many Hilton properties and this one is one of the best looking hotels I have stayed in. The property is in great shape, room was large, bathroom was roomy, all appeared to be clean and well maintained. The bed was comfy and the mini bar was well stocked. I don't normally use the mini bar since the prices are outrageous but I was exhausted so I opened the bar. All I needed was a diet soda. So I checked the date on the bottom. I was shocked to see a 2005 expiration on most of the sodas in the bar. WIth that, I went downstairs to the hotel store. Very nice store. Purchased a soda and some cookies. Cookies were within the date but stale tasting. I figured I would get a nice (expensive) breakfast the next morning. I probably should have received some benefits as a gold member but didn't. That program seems to overlook me repeatedly. I went to the restaurant for breakfast and purchased my $10 belgian waffle. It was hot and looked impressive but was a little soggy. Maybe it sat around for awhile. It did take 15 mins for it to arrive. That coupled with the warm orange juice (4.50) made the $15 breakfast annoying. The place was packed with a conference but they seemed to handle it well. This is an impressive looking hotel. I'll probably give it another chance if I am in Houston again and am hoping that it will do better next time. If I wasn't on such a short timeline, I would have shared my displeasure.
