I work in the travel industry, and was invited to stay at Hilton Americas Houston by their senior sales manager to experience downtown Houston. I was treated like royalty from all the staff members. This hotel is great if you're looking for a nice hotel that is in the heart of downtown Houston for vacation or meetings/conventions. The Hilton is connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center and minutes from other downtwon venues. I was fortunate to go behind the scences in the kitchen and see how they prepare meals for every guest small groups and large. Their chefs are amazingly talented when it comes to presenting their food. If you want to experience the spa I highly recommed getting a manicure and pedicure. As you sit in the massage chair while your feet are soaking you have an amazing view of Houston's skyline. The rooms are nice and beds are soft and comfortable. I had lunch in the Skyline Grill, and the food was really good. The only issue I had staying at this hotel was during my second night I went to the pool and my room keys wouldn't open the door. I later found out when I tried getting into my room my keys wouldn't work either. I ended up going down to the front desk and had them reset my keys. Since I didn't have any identification on me because I was dressed for the pool the front desk had a security guard walk me up to my room to make sure that it was my room. Once I got to my room I showed the guard my id, and he left. What I think happened is that I had my room keys next to my cell phone and the magnetic strip on the keys scrambled. So I highly recommend that you keep your room keys away from any credit cards or cell phones to avoid this problem. If you're looking for transportation Merlo's Charters works a lot with this hotel. I give this hotel two thumbs up!

I stayed at this hotel in November for about four days. The hotel itself is very nice--it's about a 45 minute drive from the Intercontinental/George Bush airport, so it will cost you about a $45 cab ride to get there, or $23 for each person on the hotel shuttle.
The staff was friendly and the room was nice, with a good view of the city. The pool is very cool, with a great view of the city. I was there with my boyfriend and many other people for a conference. Other people were told that you had to pay to use the pool. We weren't aware of this and just used our card to get in and went swimming. We later checked at the desk and they said there is a charge, but that they don't go by the room key, so I'm not really sure how they would know you used it. Regardless, we didn't end up paying.
There is Internet access in the rooms for $10/day.
The main negative is the town itself. The hotel is located right in downtown houston, but...there is absolutely nothing to do. It wasa ghostown. It was a Friday afternoon, and all the restaurants were closed. I didn't see any shops really.
there is a whole tunnel system that goes beneath the city, with shops and restaurants. This too was closed, and is also closed all weekend. There is a mall with 5 shops and a food court. Also closed all weekend. One shop hada sign posted that it is open "11-2" each day.
Everyone who was there was using the word "ghosttown" to describe the place. My boyfriend walked over a half hour one day looking for lunch. I'm not sure if there are other areas of Houston with more to do, but I would really not recommend gonig there on vacation. Luckily, his business paid for it--if not, I think we would have been very very disappointed.

Wanted to stay someplace special for my birthday, so I got a room thru Priceline. When I got to the front desk there was a line, I waited my turn, then walked up to the next available. However, another person checking in switched from their clerk to the one I was walking up to. The one that was now available walked off, so I just stood there for another clerk to open up. When the clerk finally came back he motioned for the next person in line. Since I was standing in front of him already, I walked to the counter & a woman & man cut in front. The woman turned to me and said she was a Hilton Honors member & had been waiting in line long enough. I said we had been waiting longer, she said she had an appointment. My partner loudly said we have dinner reservaions. I wanted to say I'm also a Hilton Honor's member PLUS I have a Kroger's card. The clerk never looked at me once & continued to check in the rude woman. When I finally got to check in, the clerk treated me like I was the enemy. Asked me for my driver's license even made me take it out of the wallet & give it to him. Then asked for my credit card & walked off. A manager-type came up to the counter & asked if I was being helped. I said I had no idea. He said he would go find the guy & see what's up. Eventually the guy came back & gave me my room key. My credit card has a pending charge of $101 & I never use it so we'll see what happens. Also, the hotel was busy so we had to use the stairs when we checked out because every time the elevator came to our floor it was full. On the plus side, the room was clean & nice (but on the small side). When I checked in, the clerk asked if I had self parked or "valeted", I said self park. In the morning the bill had a $12.99 charge on it for parking. I stay in alot of hotels & never had a front desk clerk treat me any differently whether I had paid the regular rate or thru priceline. I tend to not go where I'm not wanted.

We booked this hotel through Priceline for a one night stay. We were travelling from Austin to Houston to visit a friend and just didn't want to have to drive back after dinner. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and were impressed with the hotel. It's very new, very modern, but comfortable (though it is freezing in the hallways!). Our room was large and well appointed. We unpacked and then left the room to get some lunch. Upon leaving the room, we put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, as we always do when we check into a hotel, just because we don't like for anyone to enter the room after we have checked in. Later that evening, we returnd and found the "Do Not Disturb" removed from the door. When we entered, we noticed that some of our personal property was missing from the bed. I called security, which was actually very responsive, and told them the story. While they were able to locate our property, they could offer no explaination of why our room had been entered when the "Do Not Disturb" had been on the door. Since we had just checked in, there was no reason for the room to be cleaned, and to the best of my knowledge the hotel does not offer turn-down service. Our property was located in housekeeping, but only after us asking for them to double check and check again with housekeeping to see if anyone had the items in question.

Modern decor, very pretty. If you're in downtown Houston for business its a great location.
Three blocks from Minute Maid Park if you're there for a baseball game. It's also next door to the Toyota Center, and Brown Convention Center. We stayed the Labor Day weekend for 5 days, 2 adults & 2 children. Not really too good for families with small children, more for young couples or older adults. We got great rates, $89 per night for a double, but you pay $12 per day for self park, the pool is $5 per use, the food is good but pricey. Rooms were lovely, very clean, and roomy. The indoor pool was nice, with a hot tub, it was a bit crowded after an Astros /Mets game. There is also an outdoor terrace beyond the pool with a beatiful view of the city skyline. The pictures on the hotel's website are accurate. The staff was friendly and accomodating.
The only complaints I have are the housekeeping, they didn't clean the bathroom (they did change the towels). The pool was supposed to be heated but it was ice cold, and the dirty towels were not replaced with clean ones right away and there were dirty towels thrown all over. Aside from those two things I found our stay enjoyable, and would recommend this hotel.
